Some More Hecate Reviews!-Upon Promethean Shores (Unscriptured Waters)
Hecate Enthroned, CoF wannabes?, 18 March, 2003
Reviewer: The Malevolent Llama from Luton, UK
I cannot deny, this is a brilliant album. From start to finish, it is absolutely amazing. But I cannot help but notice the similarity to the superb Cradle of Filth. The vocals on the album are good, but seem to be trying to live up to those of Dani Filth, and failing miserably. Also, one of the guitar riffs in "To Feed Upon Thy Dreams" is strikingly similar to the one at the start of "Summer Dying Fast" (Cradle of Filth). Another backing tune is almost exactly the same as the tune of "The Forest Whispers My Name", again, by Cradle of Filth.
So, although the album is great, it doesn't quite seem to reach it's apparent goal of comparing to Cradle of Filth. Buy it if you are a true metal fan, but if you are a die-hard Cradle of Filth fan, I would stay well away of this insult to the Cradle.
