Re: Count In Fives review...
quote: Initially, it’s striking in these times of unoriginal
oh right? i forgot about the 100 other bands that sound like the horrors at the moment.
quote: the single's weedy guitars and pallid rhythm cry out for a bit of oomph, a bit of guile, a bit of interest, a bit of craft
really? hmm....
quote: Then there's those Hammond organs that bring to mind the comedic Harpsichord played by Lurch of the Adams Family fame.
that made me "lol". does this writer know ANYTHING?
quote: And that's the problem with the Horrors. At present, they are just an image and a lot of unnecessary hype. Their material doesn't live up to the billing,
and they're basing that on two songs?
when will people learn to see past the way they dress? PFFT.
would it not look painfully ridiculous if they were up on stage performing the music they do dressed in wife beaters and straw hats a la the kooks?
quote: The Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster must be spinning in their graves.
??????? correct me if i'm wrong (because i may very well be wrong - i don't claim to be an expert.) - but i thought most if not all of the 80s matchbox b-line disaster were alive.. and still doing the odd gig...? no?
i bet he's an automatic fan

Re: Count In Fives review...
I saw 80's Matchbox a couple of months back, Guy McKnight got pissed off at someone and tried to start a fight.
That review is quite amusing.

Re: Count In Fives review...
I think the matchbox quote was more ironic or sarcastic than anything.
I rather liked that review. At least it was intellectual and honest. It wasn't just the same-o same-o "everyone's heard it before" arguments. He has his viewpoints and he gets them across well without offending the fans too much and causing them to react all defensively (well that was the case anyway).
Sure I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but his tastes are obviously different. S'what music's all about.
That's possibly one of my favourite articles i've read on The Horrors recently, how queer that it's a negative take on them :P
I bet he hates the Automatic just as much. Or at least I would like to think so.

Re: Count In Fives review...
they were all valid points that he made, it certainly wasn't another attack on The Horrors.

Re: Count In Fives review...
Yeah, I agree with Sam, he does make some valid points, especially with the hype. Some of it is quite funny, in a sarcastic way.
With the comparison to the B-Line... who have a similar fanbase. They played in Brighton last night. PHWOAR, it was good apparently.

Re: Count In Fives review...
I liked that review and agree with all of it apart from the bit about the organ. The organ is the BEST bit about the Horrors. It's what separates them from all the other Ramones wannabes.

Re: Count In Fives review...
I agree, the organ is the key. I don't think the Horrors sound anything what a lot of other bands are doing at the moment and I think the organ is largely why. I think the bit about the weedy guitars is partly true, I think the demo version had way more oomph.

I dont get what people mean when they say "the same" or "unoriginal" I havent seen any band like The Horrors in my lifetime (even though im only 16! lol)
So what if they have big hair, wear cool clothes and are getting a lot of press coverage.... THEY ARE A GOOD BAND! You cant deny that.....
They have catchy tunes, incredible live performances, they are friendly, and they look good (even though thats no big deal)
Yes they dress different, they look good, but thats not what I care for its probably the same with all you horum hors, its the music... I would like The Horrors if they dressed like the flipping pussycat dolls for hecks sake!
