Read Any Good Books Lately?
Ok, as long as we're in the middle of this posting dry spell, I figured I'd start yet another semi-pointless thread. I'm just curious about books people may be reading, if they have the time. Right now, I'm reading a book called The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University by Kevin Roose, who graduated from Westtown in 2005. So far, it's a pretty interesting book. It's about the author's journey as he, a liberal, religionless Quaker, transfers from Brown University to Liberty University. Obviously the point of view is different than most books I read about Christianity but so far I really like it. He's coming to Westtown to speak on Sunday, so I figured I'd read his book before he gets here. Anybody else read a good book lately?

I'm reading a book Ken gave me. Granted I haven't gotten too far on it, but so far it's interesting. It has to be. Chuck Norris did the foreword. I really want to read Alice in Wonderland right now though. I like the strange, the half-lucid, the mindscrewing, the bizarre, the philosophical. I choose to have my mind tested and strained. I choose... Rapture.
Don't mind that last part unless you're Luke.

I read the Benni Harper Mystery Series!!! It's really good, if you're into that sort of thing... which you're probably not. Anyway. I'm supposed to be reading Dante's Inferno, but I get distracted a lot...

Haha. I could see it now.
"Ooh. Ok, so this guy's name is Dante. He set something on fire. OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH.....Look a birdie!"
That's pretty much how i see that one going. Exactly how. Yeah so did i mention i get to attend a meeting with the author of the book? It's gonna be really cool. Yeah...

Re: Read Any Good Books Lately?
I'm reading a book called "How Women Help Men Find God" and it's by the author of "Why Men Hate Going to Church". It's interesting. It's talking about how to pray for men and it's also showing how we feminized church and made it hard for some men to feel comfortable there. A lot of men aren't great at talking or reading or don't enjoy sitting still and stuff, yet most of church involves doing those things. It's interesting, because Jesus didn't really model the "sit still for an hour, sing six praise songs, listen to announcements and then I'll talk for awhile" setup. Most of his parables could be told in less than two minutes. And while he did do teaching where people sat and listened to him for extended periods of time, it was because the people were really interested in what he was saying.
Anyway, point being. Good book.

I was going to have to Gibbs Slap you when I read the title of the first book. I'm glad you clarified it, though. It actually sounds very interesting.

That's kind of the point of them. "There is nothing so invigorating than being shot at and missed." I did enjoy Frankenstein, although I usually don't like horror films/games/books. (Left 4 Dead does not count as horror before Kyle calls me on that one.)

I read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde a long time ago. It scared me.
