Who We Are
LIGHT Student Ministries is a youth group in the United Brethren denomination. In line with our mission statement, (Love, invite, grow, honor & transform) we've set up this forum as a place where our teens can get together and discuss/debate topics.. also for alumni to stay connected!
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, that history and science prove it to be reliable and trustworthy and that it applies to our everyday lives.
("All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe that Jesus is God's son, (Fully God and fully man) and the only chance for salvation, sent from Heaven to live a sinless life and die in order to pay the required price for our sinfulness.
("I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except though me." John 12:6
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing... being made in human likeness.." Philippians 2:6-7
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sumpathize with out weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every day way, just as we are--yet was without sin." Hebrews 4:15)
We believe that he rose from the dead and in conquering death was able to give us the gift of eternal life. We believe that if you accept this gift, believe in him as the only Savior and confess and repent of your sins, you will be saved from sin and death and you will receive eternal life with God in heaven.
("That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord.' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23)
Anyone is welcome to contribute to discussions, no matter what your belief. If you have questions, we'll try to answer them!! I hope you'll join us!
