Men Accused Of Killing Bronx Police Officer Plead Not Guilty
March 13, 2006
The two men accused of killing Police Officer Daniel Enchautegui in December pleaded not guilty to all the charges they face during an appearance at State Supreme Court in the Bronx Monday.
Lillo Brancato Junior and Steven Armento are charged in connection with the shooting death of Enchautegui. The men clashed back in December, when Enchautegui apparently busted the pair trying to break into a neighbor's home.
Gunshots were exchanged between the three men. Both Brancato and Armento were wounded, and Officer Enchautegui died of his injuries.
Both Brancato and Armento have pleaded not guilty to the murder, burglary and weapons charges against them.
Brancato is an actor known for his work on "A Bronx Tale" with Robert DeNiro and for a recurring role on "The Sopranos."
His fame may have some concerned. The police union is set to gather this afternoon. Its president says they will do everything possible to see that Brancato does not profit from selling his story to the media.
Brancato and Armento are due back in court on May 4th.
