I set up a website to find out.
Here's the intro from the homepage:
This site is an attempt to answer the question "Is Laughter The Best Medicine?", and is taken from the author's research into Humour Therapy and personal experiences.
Here you will (hopefully) find information that's useful, informative and downright funny! (although no guarantees are given folks!)
Don't forget to keep checking this site from time to time as it is constantly being updated!
Please note: this is a non-profit making site - money is not the main goal of the author, his interest is in promoting the use of humour and laughter as a therapeutic tool! If anything on the site makes you feel good, or is beneficial in any way, then the author feels that he has achieved something worthwhile!
About the site's author:
Neil Baxter has performed music and comedy - live, unpaid* and drunk (if you hear his material you'll know why!), written poetry and numerous 'funny' stories and is currently studying full time to become a Registered Mental Nurse - he feels that laughter is an important therapeutic tool and has produced this website as part of his ongoing research. He has also taken part in a ‘Laughter Workshop’ in Stratford-upon-Avon' (details of which can be found by clicking the ‘Laughter Workshop’ link on the toolbar).
* He did however get £50 for one gig, but can't for the life of him work out how it happened, nor has he been able to repeat the miracle!
N.B. Although a lot of this site's contents are based on research, any information given is for suggested use only - feel free to try any of the suggestions, but don't take it all as gospel folks!

For those who do not know, skrike = cry!
Was that therapeutic? No it was not, but I find it funny now.
One my Granddad used to say too...
