AVCHD Query:

Does anyone have any experience of manipulating AVCHD footage in FCP? (v6.0.2). Over the Christmas period I expect to be editing some footage from a Sony HDR-SR7e, a HDD camcorder using AVCHD. Having read various and often conflicting information on numerous
Apple posts and forums, I just wondered if someone has actual experience of doing it in terms of best practice.
Although I have never used it, I am aware of the new Log and Transfer import method, and that transcoding will occur to either the Apple Intermediate Codec or ProRes 422 (should one be favored over another?). I also understand that the 5.1 Dolby to be mixed down to
standard stereo as a result of this. I am also conscious of the Voltaic ($30) application for making AVCHD files Quicktime native (all be it very large). Any tips from someone who has already been through this learning curve would be greatly appreciated.
