Why I love NETFLIX

I've seen some wonderful movies since I joined netflix. No, I don't work for them, but seriously, I love them.

Last night we saw a French movie - The Chorus. GREAT movie.

What is the last movie you saw that you totally loved?

I'm trying to think. I really try to be one with the status quo but there are so very few good movies out there. Why is that?

cause.

It's the same reason that people don't want to learn about their world. Maybe it's a condition specific to americans, but a lack of curiosity and a desire to learn about thier world. If that were more true the crap that makes money in the theaters wouldn't and the stuff that should, would.

For instance - The Davinci Code. It's a crap book and a crap movie. Why? Because it's badly researched and the 'facts' are wrong. I get that it's fiction, fine. But the author insists that the 'facts' are accurate, and, over and over when verified, the truth as presented in the book isn't. Not the fiction part, but the 'facts' the fiction is built upon. It makes me crazy.

I removed myself from those pesky facts and looked at it as entirely fiction. What I saw was a truly bad movie. I think mortal sin it violated most was "show, don't tell".

Did you ever see the original "Dioblique"?

as a prison official, would you be obligated to tell if I told you?

No, I never saw Diabolique.

Did you ever see "I am David"? Good movie, and the kiddies can watch too. Though the subject matter might send them over the edge.

Re: Why I love NETFLIX

This is really sad, I can't think of a REALLY good movie that I've seen lately. Funny that you guys are talking about DaVinci Code. My daughter borrowed it from the library. She watched if for about a half an hour and then came upstairs and said, "This movie sucks". Tom Hanks? come on. It's just bad. I guess should all have known how bad it would be. Ron Howard directed it, and, he stinks. A Beautiful Mind. Ugh. Someone wake me up when it's over, please.

I just saw a rather neat documentary called "Devil's Playground". It's about Rumspringa. If you don't know, that's when Amish kids get to do whatever they want for a few months to a few years before deciding whether to join the church. Amazingly enough, 90% of the kids decide to forgo Brittany Spears, apple martinis and piles of cheeba and "go Amish." It wasn't the best film but it let me see a certain part of a fascinating subculture very clearly.

I'd be interested in that. It's cool that they decide so often to become members. I'm not surprised that's true. The Amish I've met have all been generous loving people. Their response to the shooting last year wasn't a surprise to me, they've spent a long time on their character.

I got it from the library but Netflix has all sorts of wacky stuff. I've got a Muddy Waters concert on the way for today. Wifeybear will just looove that...

I love Netflix. At the moment I'm reliving my teen years and watching old series like Emergency. Recently watched Blood Diamond, good movie. Not one I'd watch again but well worth seeing. Next up is 'The Good Shepard' .

Re: Why I love NETFLIX

I sat through DaVinci Code a couple weeks ago. I really, really, REALLY had to work at watching it. It was soooo incredibly stupid. It didn't even get "good" until after the first HOUR. It was one of the worst movies I've seen in a LONG time.

I Love, Love, LOVE The Devil Wears Prada. It's new on HBO this month. I've seen it over 30 times so far. LOVE IT!!
