Re: …
So...I have a new person to add to the creep list...
I was just out front cleaning the leaves out of my stone wall (and getting the flowers ready for winter) when a neighbor who I've haven't seen for quite some time stopped by to chat. She was a fairly good friend of mine when the kids were young but I had to put an end to the relationship because her daughter (a year in between my kids in age) is a total psycho troublemaker. It was just too painful to hang with these people because there was ALWAYS some issue with the kids and I REALLY felt sorry for the little girl who, actually, was pretty smart and creative but her mother completely ruined everything chance she had to be normal at a very young age. The Mom is the creep. She never let her daughter play, make a mess (a good, creative mess), cook anything, do any artwork, decorate her room, touch the Christmas tree, etc. You get the picture. Very controlling and fun hating mother. One time, she watched my kids for me and when I arrived to pick them up, all her daughter came running up to me quite excited about a "circus train" they had made in her room. We all went upstairs and the kids had moved some chairs together and filled them with stuffed animals. They were pretending it was a train travelling to exotic locations. Well, her Mom saw "the mess" and freaked out on all of them ( and me for telling them it was cute). That was it for me....

I'm kind of like that. Actually, I'm a lot like that. Do I get any points for at least acknowledging I have a problem?
In the woman's defense, it might be OCD (or at least OCD tendencies). Disorder of any kind makes some people physically panic (Hi! People who are like me!), and the cooking things gets into the germophobia associated with it.
I want my kids to learn to cook and be productive and self sufficient, but the thought of them touching my food in any way makes me hyperventilate.
I know. I've got issues.

Aw, Mrs. D. I don't think you're creepy, though. Even with all your issues ;). As you can see by the mistakes in my post, I was stuck in a bad memory-fest. You know? It would be easier to understand this woman if she had OCD...but...I don't think she does. I spent enough time with her to see that she's just uber-controlling. Really. It was awful. That poor little girl (ony child) had to be perfect...all the time. She turned into the kind of kid who, when the adults weren't around (or she didn't think they were listening), would bully the other kids. Really, she said the meanest things I've ever heard come out of a beautiful, angelic face. Actually, this was back when The Rugrats was a popular show and my kids called her Angelica.
Okay...another memory. One time? We took the kids to Boston (The New England Aquarium) and the kids were having so much fun in the back of the car. Singing, laughing, playing with little figurines...you know...fun! Out of the blue, this woman turned around and started screaming at all of them to shut up. My kids were horrified because Hubs and I never really raised our voices or spoke to them like that. The mother turned to me and said, " I couldn't help that. My parents were screamers and I've become one, too." Jeez. Sorry about that, but...um...therapy maybe? because you're not going to do that to MY kids...ever again.
so...again...creepy
