I really don't care for those kinds of movies, like the one they just did about the hijacked plane in Pennsylvania. the writers only have parts of the conversations that happened so they fill in the blanks and you don't know what was really said. It is slanted and skewed to work on the emotions of the viewers, sympathy for those killed and their families and hatred for those who did the acts. It only opens wounds that are still trying to heal. Not to mention the money they will make on the pain suffered by others.

Re: Who Will See "World Trade Center"?

I won't.

When 9/11 happened, I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and went into total denial about the entire thing (I was watching the Today show as I was getting ready that morning and watched the towers fall in real time)...After that, I refused to watch TV for over a week, and only sporatically after that (which for me is a big thing...TV is my main vice).

Later, I watched the actual footage from the CBS reporter who was in one of the towers as it fell (he survived, as did his footage...) and I was overwhelmed with emotion (they even showed the "sounds" of the bodies falling (jumping) from the building). It was absolutely the worst feeling in the world to see all of this happen.

I have zero interest in reliving that day in any way, shape or form.

I really don't think I can see it. I was living in Jersey at the time and was working about 45 minutes away from where it happened. I have friends that live and work in that area and I was an emotional wreck that day and that week till I knew for sure that they were all okay. I also saw the live footage and heard the bodies falling outside the buildiing before it collapsed. That is a sound that you just never forget. I didn't lose anyone that day and I just don't want to relive that day. I can't even imagine how the families of those that did lose a loved one feel about this movie.

Re: Who Will See "World Trade Center"?

That day, my husband was working in the area when the plane hit the Pentagon, he was doing excavating, I couldn't reach him all day. After many frantic calls to his boss, his boss finally called me to let me know that they were okay and not close enought to the Pentagon to have been it. The workers had been told to get in the trench and stay down until they could figure out what was going on and if more strikes were likely. The lady I worked with at that time, her husband was working at the Pentagon fixing the elevators, and doing maintenance work fortunately he was in another part of the building and wasn't hurt. Talk about a long, emotional day. I don't want to see anything about it, but my husband is fascinated by it. It is also a very ironic day, it is the same date as my mother's birthday and she feels guilty celebrating on a day that saw the loss of so many. I make sure I send her flowers on that day so she doesn't feel so sad.

I know what you mean. My nephew was born on that day, that very day. I couldn't reach anyone because the phone lines were jammed.

maybe...
i have read the movie will focus on two of the firefighters that survived...
If those firefighters went through this awful event, and they were ok with this movie, i may want to see THAT aspect of this controversial movie...

Yeah... I lost a friend in 9/11 and my good friend's father was killed. But I think the point of the movie is to remind us of both our fragile our world is and yet at the same time remember the hope that brought so many people together in unity.

I was watching it live when it happened on the news. I also lived and was living at the time about 25-30 minutes from where the flight 93 crached.

Anyway- I know everyone has such mixed emotions about that day... everyone has there own ways of remembering and dealing with what happened.
