PAL is the DVD format which I believe is good for most of Europe (check your dvd manual for compatability though cause I am not real sure). Just know it isn't compatible with North American dvd players!!

This nifty idea is a way to get Brits & North Americans to pay more for dvds & to ensure that the rest of Europe has to wait 'till Armaggedon to get a double disc version of Munich!! 
Hangin' is too good for these folks!! 
Guess since
I'm N-O-T rich I will soon be relocated to a 3rd world country by these geniuses huh?!

the region number for the dvd.
Here in Europe we accept region 2 dvd, in the States they have region 1, in Aussie lang region 4.
If you buy a region 4 dvd, you can't watch it here in Europe, cause there's no compatibility...
I bought 2 dvds from Australia:
- The castle. It was a region 4, so I had to have it converted into region 2 in order to watch it
- The Eric Bana sketches show. Thankfully I got to watch it immediately cause in was a region 0 (zero). Region 0 dvds are region free, so they can be played all over the world.
