Eragon

If you read the book will you like the movie? My friend sure didn't. As I watched this hour and a half long movie, she kept on nagging and complaining about how much stuff they cut out, and didn't put in, and so on and so forth. So, if you read the book, you know whats comming... just expect a little less.

For all of us that havn't read the book, don't be expecting much either. This movie is only an hour and a half long, but it feels so much longer. Worse of all, it feels rushed. As far as fantasy movies go, this one sits between The Lord of the Rings, and Narnia... though it sits much closer to narnia. The whole problem with the movie is that it just dosn't explain the story good enough, or go into enough detail to get you really interested enough to care what happens. I ended up sitting in the theater just waiting for this thing to end!

Here's preety much what happens...

Eragon is a farm boy that discovers a magical blue "rock" while hunting. What he dosn't know is that this rock was sent to him by an elvin princess, and that it is not infact a rock, but an egg! This egg soon hatches into a baby dragon. Then the next day Eragon teaches it how to fly.... and the thing explodes several times and gets bigger with each explosion.
After that Eragon can "mind talk" with his dragon friend... Serria I think? Anyway, they have to go to a rebal city to help defeat the evil king who kidnaped the princess... how typical....
He mets some old dude later on, learns some magic spells (He learns how to move a tree! OMG!!!), and then finds the rebal city and yadayadayada....

Should you see this movie? If you really want to, and you go into the theater saying, I'm going to enjoy this!... you probably will. But if your not a hardcore fantasy fan, just wait for this to come on DVD, or don't even bother.

I say 2/5

Good review. I liked the book, but I might see this just to see how different it is.

Re: Eragon

I think it was way short, and far too rushed. The big battle seemed a bit short, and I don't think Murtagh came on screen enough (then again, I just love that guy... fictionally, though). After Saphira hatched and Eragon had found himself a mentor (Brom), he had asked Brom about a few Elven words that were not even needed for the rest of the movie.

But all in all I think it was good; I would give it a 3.5/5, personally. There is no chance that the movie is better than Narnia or LOTR.

that's how I am with a lot of stories. I don't like to read and I can never seem to get the story just right, but when I watch the movie I can understand exactly what is going on.

Yeah, but the thing is that the book is almost always better. The only movies to book series that they didn't screw up on that I can recall is probably Harry Potter (Though the third one wasn't that great).

Other movies, like the Da Vinci code... yeah... don't even get me started on that one.

yeah, that's the only thing I hate. If only they could make movies and books the same story...
