I know a couple of people here like/know this band so I thought I would show this little bit of news from Yahoo News

Glasvegas have appealed to singer James Allen to get in touch after he failed to appear at the Mercury Prize in London.

The Scottish indie stars were amongst the 12 acts nominated for the 2009 award, which was last night won by Speech Debelle.

However, the band were forced to call off a scheduled live performance in the absence of their frontman.

Allen's cousin and guitarist in Glasvegas, Rab, said he had not been seen since last Friday, when they returned to Glasgow from Italy.

"He had been saying for ages that he needed a break. Everyone is panicking. We're not supposed to talk about it.

"He has been working really, really hard. I miss him. The message is: 'Please get in touch'", he told reporters.

There are unconfirmed reports that Allen is unwell.

Hope it's nothing serious

Hope all's well and he's just done a Strummer. Great band and Daddy's Gone is a genuinely heart wrenching tune. Hard thing to do without being saccharine.

Similar thing happened to another Scot, Steve Mason from The Beta Band (and modsters 2nd Generation). Suffering from stress and depression he just had to get away. Ended up holed up in a seaside cottage thankfully.

But the weird looking fella from the Manic Street Preachers was never found after his Lord Lucan act.

He was found hiding in manchester citys trophy cabinet!

Strange 'cos I watched the live show when the winner was annouced and they showed clips of the performances earlier that evening, including Glasvegas! Mind you the lead singer did look terrible.

Have liked the band for awhile now and they provided one of my musical highlights of the year when they did an incredibly haunting version of "Be My Baby" at Glastonbury.

I never knew he had died. I knew he took too much acid and went tripping in the country but not that he died.

Well at least Mr Allen is all well and back from his "Lost Weekend"

Saw this story a couple of weeks back but didn't hear anything else so presumed he turned up. The drummer Caroline was a Mod and lived in London for a while a couple of years back.

Caroline is my other halfs best friend so I was treated to the story behind the story when she was around the other week. Caroline that is, not my other half..
It was nowt serious and a little out of date apparently. Sounded to me like he was busy down the pub...?
