First ever Swamp Cabbage Festival Invitational
To ALL racers that attended the Swamp Cabbage Festival Invitational,
I want to THANK everyone that attended the FIRST EVER Swamp Cabbage Invitational event in LaBelle, FL on Saturday February 24th, 2007. We had 42 mowers come out to compete in two Drag races, 9 Oval track Classes, and the 30 Lap Enduro!!! We had three (3) first time racers, saw many old friends, and welcomed the Florida Lawnracing Association members’ participation in both the parade and the event. The spectator turnout was one of the largest I can remember!
The income amounts for this event reflected this, they were: $2,425 in Local Business Sponsor donations that were single handedly collected by Rich DeMuzzio, $3,000 donated by the Hendry County Tourist Development Council with Rich being instrumental in procuring this donation also, gate admission was $2,228, 50/50 Donation was $357, event program sales were $93 Thanks to Bob Kirkwood for designing and printing these, $275 local donation to Healthy Start directly – again Thanks to Rich, and $40 from Spence Hull Sno Cones, for a total of $8,418! This was an outstanding event with both spectators, and racers enjoying a GREAT EVENT!!!
We kept the expenses down to a total of $2,278, which left a net profit of $5864 (the $275 was deducted from the total) of which NASGRASS and Grasscar split. An agreed upon donation of 20% to Healthy Start of Southwest Florida will be made individually by each club. NASGRASS will be making a $600 donation, and Grasscar will be making a $500 donation, I felt that since Healthy Start helped out with this event, and they help needy families in Hendry County and LaBelle, they deserved a little more!
So again I want to THANK EVERYONE for making this event a success!!!
Mow Ya L8R,
Sid Whiteside President NASGRASS Inc.
