Cinderella Man (5*)
Another biography from Ron Howard, this glossy pic captures the mood of the Depression and how it motivated a washed-up fighter, James Braddock, to make a comeback. Once accustomed to $8000 purses, Braddock, like millions of other Americans of the time, found himself in breadlines and working the loading docks with an injured hand just to keep the electricity turned on. Luck eventually changes and Braddock gets another chance in the ring, only this time, with a determination that takes him to the top. With superb acting from Russel Crowe and Renee Zelwegger, Cinderella Man likely could displace Rocky as the most memorable boxing movie. But this movie isn't just about boxing. It is a history lesson even more.
