Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (4*)
Four teenage girls go their separate ways during the summer, but honor their pact to forward a pair of bluejeans to one another in turn. One girl goes to Greece to fall in love with a young man whose family is steeped in a bitter feud with hers. Another girl goes to live with her father, but he has a surprise: he now shares a new home with a woman and her kids, and he is remarrying. The third girl gets sent to soccer camp in Mexico where she is smitten by the young coach, and the last girl stays home to film her "suckumentary", a bad movie about the people she meets around town. This is by no means a teen flick, but rather a serious movie, often sad, about growing up and the power of friendship. The acting is excellent, in particular, America Ferrera, the independent minded Puerto Rican sent to live with her father.
