Indoor track ideas
This topic was somewhat started in the park section so I decided to make a seperate forum for the thoughts of indoor racing in PA.

Re: Indoor track ideas
That would be really nice. With all the skateparks in the area not allowing bikes and closing down we need something other than OH.

Re: Indoor track ideas
Have you tried any old steel mill that have been shut down. They have a lot of open storage space they are not using.
Just a thought.

Re: Indoor track ideas
We were speaking with someone regarding using old warehouses or old manufacturing plants, but with the cost of liability insurance, no owners are willing to allow kids to ride, let alone race. Maybe if there was a waiver for parents to sign........

Re: Indoor track ideas
ya, i think Kay arena would be a VERY good idea since it's about 5 minutes down the road for me and every other track is about an hour away. But i think it's too small. I drove past it and it looks alright sized, but it's supposed to have a bar or lounge type thing in it, so with that it would probably be too small. But it would be worth a try.

Re: Indoor track ideas
How about all of the new industrial parks in the Pittsburgh area? Most were old steel mill locations and most have a lot of empty buildings. It would have to have a lot of support since rent would have to be paid. I know I would probably be there 3-4 times a week in the winter.

Re: Indoor track ideas
I have a private sponsor interested in the old Platt Steel building. Rick went to look at it, it is as long as a football field but it is only 33' wide. Any ideas? It already has a dirt floor and there are no ceilings to contend with but the width is a setback.
Feedback????

Re: Indoor track ideas
You could work with that. It'd be hard, but an over-under and some slick designing it would work.

Re: Indoor track ideas
If anyone wants to swing by and take a look, it is off of route 88, right across from washington junction, which means it would have ample parking in the evenings. I guess it has a large lot behind it which also goes with the building. It has been on the market over 3+years. What does anyone think about installing bleachers up above kinda like a catwalk?
