Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
Have you ever heard footsteps in your house, or a door shut when no one was around to make those noises? At our home, we've witnessed these on several occasions. Mostly what we hear is footsteps in/near our hallway.
One night, my son and I were sitting on the couch in the living room. We were watching a movie and it was over. So we turned off the DVD, and was sitting there talking, when we noticed our cat looking into the hallway, and back at the other sofa.
So I said... "Hello, why don't you come on over and have a seat with us." Then our cat looked back at the sofa and the footsteps passed right next to me. My son was nearly in my lap by then...
I had my camera phone next to me, but couldn't bring myself to use it to snap a picture. I began sweating so bad, my heart pounding in my chest, I couldn't move from that spot! The sensation was so unbelieveable, it was the first time I'd noticed those sounds so closely to me.
We've heard it several times since then, but nothing as close. We've also tried, several times to do recordings in the house, but have only been able to capture a few odd sounds.. and one definate EVP. I will post those on here at a later time.
We sure would love to hear your stories.. Please share them with us.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
That sounds like a spooky experience I'm glad i wasn't there but then again i think it would be cool to have said i was, and to feel it.
But recently I did hear footsteps outside of my room I was lying in bed it was around 12:00 or so and I was about to fall asleep when I heard footsteps so I just thought that someone was walking around because there was someone in the bathtub at the time so I thought that they had finished and then the footsteps sounded like they were walking in the other direction.
Then the footsteps stopped and as soon as they had stopped i heard something like glass clinking together and i knew that no one who was awake would make that noise and the footsteps were loud so if it was anyone they wouldn't have walked so loudly they would have walked softly because there was people trying to sleep.
Then when the glass chinked I heard the footsteps like it was coming closer to ME so i was freaking out by then and then they stopped and i heard another noise but this time it wasn't like glass chinking it sounded kinda like plastic bowls slamming together then the footsteps started but like the footsteps started for maybe 10 seconds then they were gone.
So by then i was freaking out so I got up and ran into the living room and NO ONE was around then i walked into my mothers' room and the bathroom is like connected to the room so i went next to the door and i said, "Was that you" and she said "Was what me", and i said "Did you hear that noise" she said, "No" so then i told her about it and she said "I'll be out in a minute I'm almost done with my bath" so i said "Ok"
I was fixing to go back to my room when she said "Hey take the recorder and put it in the living room, see if the noises continue" I was already freaking out but then she wanted to catch somethng so I asked were the recorder was she said it was on her desk so i put it out on the coffee table in the living room and i was on my way to my bedroom when my imagination got the best of me and i was imagining scary stuff in my head so i went back into my mother's room and was going to wait on her bed but then i decided not to and went back into my room.
When she came out of the bathroom I was still freaking out and i didn't know it was her that I heard after she came out and i got up because i heard a pound but i got up and peeked around my room and i saw her sitting on the couch she was listening to the recorder.
She told me the next morning that there was nothing caught on the recorder so i told her i didn't hear anything after i went and told her about what i heard when she was in the bathtub so i just wanted to share that with everyone.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
This happened back in 1975.
My dad passed away at home in 1975. Less than a month after he passed the strangest thing ever happened.
My mom, and I were home alone and it was afternoon, cause I remember it was still daylight outside.
We were in the living room, and all of a sudden a record started playing. The record player, and records were at the other end of the house. There was no way we could have accidently started the player.
So, I went back to the room and checked out the record player and the record.
It was an album that my dad loved, and the song playing was one of his favorite songs.
I checked it out, and could find no logical explanation for what had happened. So, I turned the player off, and put the album away.
I just accepted what had happened, and had no fear about the incident. That was an unusual reaction for me. I'm not the type personality to just calmly accept the unexplainable.
Looking back, I feel that was my dad's way of telling us he was still around.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
You are very right, that is his way of telling you that he's still watching you...so be good, remember everything I've taught you.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
I think things like that are reassurances that life goes on.. Little subtle reminders that they are still around us, and still a part of our life.
I have wondered about something.. I have several family members on the other side, and when something like that happens.. I can usually feel that it's a certain one.. like the experiences with the pennies.. I thought that was "Pa".. (I also think he's the one who turns our TV on and off sometimes..) But, other times I feel it can be another family member. Each time, I feel this way, I'll say hello to them.. and I'll get a warm feeling, like maybe I'm right..
Does anyone else experience things like this?

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
No this one I couldn't really answer. The only one who I could really relate to that ever passed was my dad, and him being him...would never come back , he never believed in that and certainly wasn't one who would come back...not if he didn't believe. To him..dead was dead. I never knew any of my Grand Parents well at all, By the time I was 10 or 11 they were all gone. I've lost a few friends...not many though considering we were at our best and had the most fun of our lives in the late 60's early 70's...Meaning most of the either died in car accidents from drunk driving or they O.D.'d from drugs. ( Glad I only liked my beer ) But very, very few people close to me have passed. So I really can't comment here.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
This is something I've kind of shrugged off for a while, but I've noticed over the last few months.. as I'm drifting off to sleep, I feel like someone pokes me in the back. I feel the covers move and everything.
Everytime it happens, I nearly jump right out of bed. I dismissed it to the fact that I was nearly asleep, and was imagining it. Everytime it happens, my back is facing away from the wall.., and I'll turn around because it freaks me out so bad. So, I don't know if I am just imagining it or not.

Re: Ever Had a Haunting Experience?
I can't say anything on this. But I promise you, Dark Shadows will. She has this happen very often. I'm glad you brought this one up.
