Ghost Box

I don't know if anyone's heard of this or not before, but I've been doing a little bit of research on something called the ghost box.. or frank's box.. as it's also been called..

Basically it is a way to have a two-way conversation with spirits. I have put up a page on it, with links and videos..

If you are good with electronics, you might be able to build one of these boxes. I've considered trying to make one.. but I'm still not too sure about it's construction. There are videos on just a basic one, (I think I could do that..) I think all it requires is white noise, an external microphone (which I don't currently have) a modified scanning radio, (don't have one of them either) and of course a recorder.

If anyone tries this, I'd love to hear about your results with it.. here's the page to it if you want to know more about it..

It looks very easy to build, I used to tinker alot, but not so much recently, My fingers are way to big for the small parts. Back in the day...with tubes and such, much easier

Well it looks like from the basic instructions.. the only thing you really need to do to build just the easy one, is to modify a radio shack scanning radio.. by clipping one of the wire's inside the box.. I think I could handle that.. emoticon then just using the basic componets..

If I take the notion to try it out, I'll definatly let you know.. I've been browsing sites that have used it, and I am amazed at the clarity of the "evp".. pretty cool..

So long as it don't run on 240 volts and 60 amps...you're in. But since you're not doing any welding, you'll be fine. Even if you would clip a wrong wire, you'll be ok. Did you ever think of searching a yard sale or a pawn shop? Might be cheaper.

That would be the perfect option.. (if I really knew what I was doing) but since they only give instructions for the radio shack radio.. I would probably have to go with that..

I've never been one to tinker much with electronics.. makes me wish I had... You can find all kinds of old stuff at flea markets and stuff.. next time I go, I will have to look around, you never know what you may find.. might actually get lucky.. emoticon

I love flea markets and garage sales. Bought a printer once with 2 never used ink cartridges for $10 Another time I got a smoker...again never used, still in carton $10 ( The wood chips that came with it were worth $10 ) Most often they are so cool. Only time they aren't is if you go to late, and everything is picked over.

I'm willing to bet that pretty much all scanners are about the same, and you could find a simple conversion somewhere on the web. I find info on nearly everything by surfing. Sometimes though, they are written in such hi-tech ( or garbled ) English, it's tough figuring out what they are trying to explain.

From what I seen the only thing that they change is the "mute" function.. you snip.. or bend over the wire on the inside so instead of it stopping at on a specific station.. it scans right over it..

Most of the time you can find detailed information on products online, and you could figure out how to change it..

That should be an easy fix, only challenge would be if one came on a pc board or an ic , it would then be imbedded in the board and nothing to snip.

I need to look at it again, is there a certain frequency range? I used to be big into scanners and ham radio, different scanners offer different ranges, depending on how deep your pockets are.

I'm really not sure about the frequency range.. I'm unfamiliar with the technology of electronic devices.. I know how to turn them on and off.. emoticon

I think it is something that is very interesting though, and really want to give it a try.

You should give it a try then, even if you buy a new one...or one on eBay or Craigs List, you should be able to get a great deal.

Just on/off huh?
