Clairaudience
I have posted something similar in the spirit guides area, but I think this suits here well...
I believe I am developing clairaudience, I have really been working with trying to communicate with my spirit guides, and have actually been hearing LOTS more. I've even started to keep a journal of the different things I've been experiencing, most of them do not make any sense, but this is one that I'm going to share with you.
A few weeks ago, my mother e-mailed a letter to her sister-n-law, whom she hasn't really spoken to in almost a year. She never really wrote to her that much anyway, she mostly wrote to her brother, my Uncle Sandy. My uncle passed away over two years ago.
Long story short, my aunt didn't know who she was, and wrote back saying she doesn't accept emails from anyone she doesn't know.. and refused to open the email.. ( would have made it easier to know who it was from.. but... )
It tore my mother up that she didn't know who she was. She felt like my uncle never spoke of her, like she was an outcast or something.. ( They have lived in different states for over 30 years.. so they never really saw each other..)
Anyway.. that night, I went to bed, and I always try to speak to "them" then.. it's really the only time I get quiet time. So I spoke directly to my uncle, and asked him if he had anything he could tell me that I could relay to my mom to make her feel better.
I was suddenly flooded with his voice in my head.. he spoke so quickly, that I grabbed a pen and paper near my bed and began to write it all down.
The next day, I asked my mom if she understood any of those things. 1: "why do you have such little faith in me?" "2: "People act different" 3:"daredevil", and a few others I don't remember right off the bat..
She was shocked. All of the information made since to her. (Some are pretty personal, so I won't go into them here..)
Well.. she felt better, and I felt that I really got a message, and was able to understand it. Two days later, my aunt wrote back and apologized for such a mistake.
I do believe this gift is an amazing one, and the things I have heard, like I said, don't make much since. But, I think it will only become stronger as I progress.
When I first started to hear them, they were like someone beside me speaking. I know it sounds crazy, but now I hear them in my head, only they're not in my voice. (you know how you randomly are thinking of paying the bills, getting gas.. etc, and you will hear thoughts your voice? It's the same, except these are random words in another's voice, and when I hear them, I know they're from spirit by the pull that I feel in my head.. kind of like when someone says your name when your half asleep.. and it pulls you a bit?)
I know it all sounds weird, but to be able to communicate like that.. I have no doubt that life continues.

Two more I'd like to share.. one night, I heard my grandfather say his name.. at first I wasn't sure I heard what I thought I heard.. so I said.. "What?" and again heard.. "Lloyd", (first time they've ever repeated for me.. hehehe..)
This happend a couple of weeks ago.. while I was trying to "talk" to them. This is the first REAL frightening experience that I've had. I heard two different voices.. one said.. "It's him", then I thought it's who? Then I heard a horrific growling voice that said "Agghhh Damn!!" Completely freaked me out, so I pulled the covers over my head.. Then I heard another voice that said "To your left!" I thought, there's NO way I'm looking to my left.. then I said.. okay.. don't wanna do this right now.. and shook myself out of that meditative state..
The next day I emailed my friend Sherry, this is part of her reply..
so here is what happened: as you lay down to rest, after you put the prayers of protection around you, as you begin to practice your abilities, the guides and guardians step forward, they step up to bat, and you heard :"One said.. ( It's him)" that was a guardian telling another that he or it was here. some people hear the words "it is here". because you are predominantly clair audient you were able to hear him in his voice say: "Ahhh.. DAMN!" later the guardians were still all around you so you were able to hear them as they communicated to one another his place and position: "To your left".. . looking to box or circle him in and dispose of him. keep up the protection around you. keep it around you. day and night. this too will pass but will always be a problem that we have to look out for. no matter how experienced or competent we become with our abilities the dark side wants us and as i said before it would prefer to have us surrender to it even if we do so unknowingly which can be done by seemingly innocent yet selfish choices. greed being the biggest followed by pride.
Wow.. I heard a coversation between them.. creeepy! But she later explained to me that this entity was not "haunting" my home, but simply passing through. As you progress with psychic abilities, those on the other side see the energy around you, and are drawn to you.. (that's a bit creepy too!) So basically you have whoever coming to see you.
Anyway.. I'm glad I have a friend who can help me understand all of this, and help me to not be afriad to use it. At first, the experiences would pull me out of that state, because it would startle me, now I've overcome that and can stay "there". She also explained that's why I don't see spirits, because my guardians and I BOTH know that it would be too much for me to handle. (She's right, I don't think I could stand seeing someone walking through my house in the middle of the night.)
Though I do hear voices in my head...
Interesting though.. don't you think?

I think both were very interesting stories.
I do though wish when you do that, you had someone around...you know...just in case something should get out of hand. I believe like you, that there is more to life than just dying and being buried. And maybe some souls/spirits out there are maybe not so peaceful or at ease.
I often wonder too...maybe you have an answer, maybe not. Do you think before imbalming started...I know..centuries ago, that maybe death and life were totally different? That maybe somehow imbalming affected death? And why it was started in the first place?

Never really thought about that.. I know many cultures had their own distinct beliefs about where the spirit of a person went, and how to "handle" the remains. Like many cultures believed burning the body, the soul could not come back into it making it a zombie like creature.. (Don't think I've ever heard of a documented case of that before either..) But they also believed it would help the deceased "cross over".
I think that even dates back to the times of when people believed in vampires. As far as embalming, I'm not sure when all of that started, or even the purpose, other than for the surviving family members to say their farewells..
But, I don't think I fully answered your question. I don't know if it actually changed the way things happen as far as the process of life, or dying.. but I do believe that some of the native american beliefs are correct, in that they believe that the spirit (of some) will linger because their body still exists. That's why they would perform such rituals to persuade the spirit to move on.
Intersting thoughts though, something to think about..

I do have strange questions and thoughts. I've wondered about the embalming one for years though, just couldn't figure out why.
