Spooky Cave
My family and I sometimes like to take a drive out in the country. Today was a very nice spring day, so we grabbed the camera and the dog and decided to make a day of it.
We ended up about 30 miles away to a place we sometimes go, deep in the woods where there is a creek close by. It's peaceful and serene. We were out walking around and there is a cave and spring creek that flows fresh water out of the cliffs. We were out there kind of playing around and my son walked over to the cave and yelled at me to come over to him.
He told me he had seen a brown figure move deep inside this cave. At the bottom it is filled with water, and the cliffs are almost impossible to walk accross. I told him it was probably a squirrel or something. He said it was as big as a person. So I was curious cause this is out in the middle of nowhere.. and I started looking in when we both heard like a growl.. but it was weird like I have never heard before. It was almost like a growl underwater.. (If that makes any sense)!
We heard it two more times.. the last time it was pretty loud, and we looked at each other and dashed for the car, it kind of freaked us out. Mostly because it was a noise I've never heard before.
We had to turn around and come back through there, so I snapped a couple of pictures, but didn't see anything. We caught a couple of orbs, but I think that can be brushed off because of the misty water all around us. I don't know what it was, but it was creepy anyway.. Friends of mine won't go near this area because of the way it "feels".

Re: Spooky Cave
You never had a clue as to what it was? I'd be going back, I love that kind of thing. So long as it isn't bigger than me.

Re: Spooky Cave
This is someplace we have went to several times.. it's nice and quiet and very pretty.. but I've never heard anything like that before.
We drove back through there on the way out and took a few pictures, it was nearly dark by the time we got back near the cave, and we really didn't want to stick around there. The pictures didn't show anything, except a couple of orbs.. (I think that was the mist from the creek though).
I will probably go back there sometime. It definatly has that "creep factor".. next time I'll have to bring my recorder..

Re: Spooky Cave
The creep factor makes it more interesting, Something to visit on a full moon night...that's the best. Or a stormy night.

Re: Spooky Cave
I tried doing a little bit of research on this area lastnight online. I found out a few interesting facts.. Samuel L. Clemons'.. (Mark Twains) father actually opened the first motel in that town.
I also found out that they were constructing a road through there which travels all the way to Nashville. It was reported that the indians that lived in this area were unhappy about the construction and the travelers and them did not get along. There was over one hundred men killed on this road in 1792.
But, since the road is so long, I'm not exactly sure where all of that happened. But, Cholera Disease nearly wiped the town out in 1850. There were only a few remaining people to rebuild.
This could contribute to the eerie feel in that area. Might be worth going back with a few investigative tools.. there are lots of nooks and crannys to search through..

Re: Spooky Cave
You did your homework, Is there like a library or something where you could check out archives, old land contracts? You might find out something. Another thought...submit it to The History Channel, if they get interested, they will really dig deep.

Re: Spooky Cave
Good point.. I haven't searched the library yet.. still want to do that for the area we are living too. There is an old cemetery pretty close to us, lots of old stones in there..
History channel? I didn't know you could submit stuff to them.. pretty interesting..

Re: Spooky Cave
Old cemetaries are the best. Like I say we have an old one very close...has the likes of Susan B. Anthony.
I think if you check out the History Channel, go to their home page. At the bottom, under Services, you can mail them. Just select programming...make a suggestion.
