Oregon's Vortex

Another thing I missed while living in the Pacific North West. I must have been dead while living there, starting to find out I missed much. I think it was because there was no internet then.

THE OREGON VORTEX AND HOUSE OF MYSTERY--The House of Mystery itself was originally an assay office for a gold mining company, but the history of the surrounding area, The Oregon Vortex, goes back to the days of the Indians. To them it was known as a Forbidden Ground, a place to be shunned. Many years before the house was built, it was noted that unusual conditions existed here; but it was not until well into the present century that any effort was made towards a scientific analysis of the disturbance and it was not until 1943 that a solution was acheived.

Re: Oregon's Vortex

I have heard of this one before. There is two more that I know of as well, most of the known vortices habe been made into amusement areas.. one is in Irish Hills Michigan.. (where I'm from) they constructed a house on this area, and it really does mess with your perception.

Another place is in Kentucky.. I have been to both of them, the one in Kentucky though, I'm not sure if it's the way the place was built to "feel" that way, but the one in Michigan has a weird distortion feeling all the way around the property..

They say around vortexes.. especially the one in oregon, it's supposed to have a lot of energy around it.. but they say that horses won't go near it.. animals have been known to act really strange around it too. Lots of people claim to have paranormal experiences near them.

Other people use them as a place of meditation.. There is another one in Arizona too.. (I think)

The Mystery Spot.. did you mean the other post I just made about the cave? No.. not the same area.. (if that's what you were talking about..) The one in Kentucky I think is in Cave City.

I would love to go to the one's that the Native Americans used in their ceremonies. The one's that are not used as tourist attractions..

No. I was talking about the one in Michigan, I think it was either in the UP , or upper lower Michigan.

Oh, Irish Hills? Irish Hills is in southern Michigan in Lenewee County. It is a few miles away from a town called Adrian, which is one of the biggest cities in that area.

I think they called it Mystery Hill.. or something like that. That's where I grew up, it was the coolest area around besides the county fair.. emoticon

This is like a tourist trap / roadside type thing, an old house was built on the side of a hill, everything looks tilted, but you put a level on it...it is actually level. Cool, but too expensive.

It may well have been Irish Hills, Was there as a kid with my parents, Mostly I remember millions of Mystery Spot & Soo Locks bumper stickers. I'm not certain if it was Lower Michigan or in the UP. I do know I had an Aunt & Uncle who owned like 10 billion acres of pristine land in that area, when they died, it all went to the state. They had no kids..so he willed it to them. He was a ranger in a fire tower, I do remember that.

That's pretty interesting... My mom's great grandmother actually owned a castle somewhere near Stearling Heights.. when she died they turned it into an orphanage.. my mom said she went there once with her parents when she was little, and remembers hidden doors and stuff.. It would be so cool to be able to go through there. I don't even know if it still is being used.

I've tried to look up info on it, but it's almost impossible, since my mom was so little and doesn't remember much about it.. how hard could it be to find a castle in michigan??
