Free Masons
This isn't so much about Mystic Places, but more about Mystec societies. What' are your thoughts on such things as the Free Masons? I believe the last President to be one was Ford, but many prominent men have been associated.

Re: Free Masons
I'm not sure, I know there has been some great controversy over the whole secret societies thing.. but, I don't really know.
I saw a program on the history channel once about the freemasons, and they made it look like it was some type of cult.
I do not believe that is what it is. My grandfather was a member of the masons, and I know his faith was deeply in God, as well as most of the ones included in these societies. Most of them claim to have no belief in a certain type of religion, but they do believe in a higher power.
The shriners are considered an extended society of the freemasons, and they contribute greatly to many different organizations.
I do believe there are secret societies, that have less than honest intentions, but I don't know if the freemasons are one of them.
I've not done much research on this subject, but I know there is lots of information online.
What are your thoughts on it?

Re: Free Masons
I bet we watched the same documentary. ( I enjoy them also ) I'd be fine if our TV only got History Channel / Discovery Channel and Sci Fi ) What else is there?
The one I mentioned started off with the freemasons actually being masons that were allowed to freely travel from country to country to do their masonry.
Which would make perfect sence for the entire concept of the society. Even though when originally formed they could in no way have envisioned the types of travel we have today...enlarging the membership base quite a lot.
My thoughts... I don't honestly think it's a power hungry society, that is for politicians. I do believe it is wholey organized for the betterment of mankind. I believe they may have powers...not magical or mystical...but clout. And they can use that to alter things...not a lot, but a little.
Once I belonged to the F.O.E. It was large then, but not so much any longer. I can say one thing...it was not what I expected. Other than that I'm not much of a joiner...Cub Scouts..that was forced on me. A Volunteer Fireman... pretty much same thing, ya want this job, join the Fire Department. And the F.O.E.
I believe if you go up the ranks in some ( not all ) of these societies you will have advantages other people wouldn't have.
Cults are a nother thing, A friend and myself witnessed something along those lines in Washington State, scared the snot out of both of us... we were grown men.

Re: Free Masons
I always share.
It was after midnight on a Friday, And Bob & myself were up in the hills....Umm thinking if I should describe what it's like ie Western Washington... Lots of hills, not quite mountains, but close. Many trees and logging roads and the like, The Ocean was just 2 miles away. OK...we were up driving around in the logging roads which just go on and on, you can very easily get lost. And they can end rather suddenly and just have a cliff dropping off a couple thousand feet, Or sometimes a landing down below, with logging equipment, Which was the case. We were having a beer or 2, just enjoying the night and came up to a dead end, parked and looked down...way down. We noticed a group of people maybe 3/4 of a mile off...a very large bonfire and some music. We thought what the heck, we were somewhat partying...and they were too, we would drive over and join them. There were no big towns anywhere close, Astoria Oregon was about 20 miles away...it is 10,000 people. So the chances of us knowing these guys was pretty good.
We drove fairly close to their bon fire...on another overlook before getting there and got out to get our bearings. We watched these guys, but now they didn't look so friendly...they were all dressed in their black/gray garb and chanting. They had what we were hoping was a cow dressed out hanging from a tree, Freshly killed because the blood was still draining into a 5 gallon bucket, that they were dipping thier heads into.
Bob was a huge dude...not fat..just huge and all muscle, he looked at me...I nodded and we made tracks out of there, It really scared both of us. We never made it back there to see it during the day, And we never talked about it locally. We were just really spooked by this. Like I've never been spooked before.
There was talk of witches in the area, but I could never confirm nor deny. One person who was being pointed at was a friend of mine...not a close friend, but a friend. And she talked about being accused of being a itch, but never went into detail.

Re: Free Masons
Whew... so glad you didn't venture closer.. Who knows what might have happend. I believe alot of people who claim to be witches now a days, are true.. nature loving people, and do not practice such rituals.
I know of a place.. never been there, but a couple of friends of mine have went there. It's a bridge that has lots of graffiti spray painted underneath. Well.. they were taking a drive and stumbled upon this place.. thankfully during the day... the whole place was eerie, and they decided to get out and walk around. They found dead animals laying under the bridge.. and beer bottles everywhere.
They felt so uneasy, and quickly left after that. They were talking to a friend of theirs that grew up around that area, and she told them that that place was known for satan worshippers. The place is also known for tons of paranormal happenings, but,.. after finding out what they do, I wouldn't go there for anything.
Thanks for sharing.. Spooky..

Re: Free Masons
I think that was more the term I was looking for....Satan Worshippers, Not witches. The entire scene was just so wrong. Somewhat like you described under the bridge. Only difference, this was a more desolate area. So I'm thinking...like Bob and I did at the time, more stuff could happen there as well. And no one would ever know. That was the scariest part. We could have been gutted like a salmon, and no one would have missed us....well not for a couple days anyway. On Monday when I was supposed to be at work.

Re: Free Masons
I'm not so certain anyone would have been missed, It was a small little fishing community, and for a while there, they were fishing bodies out of the port on a regular basis. Rough little town to say the least.
