Re: Birds

That's a good idea.. I should do that.. I'll try it later tonight.. if not, then tommorrow, as the sun is setting.. they are always loud then.. emoticon

My poor friend Connie was over again tonight, and she said she was leaving before the sun set.. (cause the birds freak her out at dark) hehehe.. I had to laugh.

She said she's never seen anything like that, and told her husband how freaky it was.. (they even live near a wooded area, and they don't see that many) she said she thought that was abnormal behavior, and asked me if I looked anything up about it, and I told her I couldn't really find anything about THAT many being in one area.. she thinks it's a bad sign..

She said something like that usually brings bad news.. asked me too if I'd been feeding them..no... haven't been feeding them, I don't think I could aford that much bird food..! emoticon

I would think there would have to be a good food source for them, or they would leave.. wouldn't they?

I hope it's just a fluke.. usually this time of year we just notice how quiet it is and realize the birds are gone.. I hope it doesn't mean anything bad..

Good thought...I'll check on it too, to see if I can google anything, trick on this one is...entering the best search term.

As for food, that depends. Are they there all day...24/7? Or do they go away, and return during the day? If they are there all day, if they aren't eating on something you will wake up some morning and have 80,000 bird carcasses on the ground. That would be one nasty clean-up.

I'm thinking your friend may be on to something though, it might be something close to hordes of Locusts...that would do it for me...they are so nasty.

Oh gosh.. don't say that.. emoticon !!

I didn't notice them this afternoon, but they are back again tonight, I tried getting some audio, and it sounds like a bunch of static, with an occasional chirp.. hehehe.. I will get it on the computer and send you an MP3.. Maybe I can clean it up some so you can hear it better..

I was able to catch them as I opened the door, they always freak out and flutter.. sounds almost like rain.

I can do without the Locusts too.. (bad experience.. )

We were at my father-n-laws one time, The kids and I were helping their grandma plant some flowers, when their grandmother thought it would be funny and have my daughter put one of those locust shells on me.. Now, I'm not one to freak out over stuff like this, but she stuck it down the back of my shirt and slapped it.. !!

My daughter couldn't have been more than 5 at the time.. everyone thought it was so funny.. cept me! emoticon

You were probably lucky it was just a crunchy shell, not an entire locust...the goo would freak even me. ( all 8 quarts of it if it were a big one )

You couldn't have freaked too bad though, Your daughter made it to her 6th Birthday emoticon
