It did help..I got many hits yesterday, Not all were from you...but more than any other individual site. I spent most the day googling myself too, and using Yahoo & MSN. The found me fairly fast..Within the top 50. I'd be willing to bet if you spent a few boring hours dealing with just the 5 top search engines you would really see the traffic come to your site. I've found that true with my site, and the shopping cart I just finished.
I really like Paratracker, and believe it will surprise you some time very soon, and be in the top 25 of all paranormal sites. When that happens...don't fill up the side bars with advertising, that takes away from the sites integrity.
And THANK-YOU for putting my site on the front page, I appreciate it more than you know,And it will help.
A side note...Long ago I mentioned I never had a hit from 2 states, I think it was Montana and Wyoming? I'm still waiting on Wyoming. I can't believe that one. I get many small & newer countries, but not one of our own states.

Well.. you are always listed on the sidebar of some of my fav. link..  but your banner has been on the front quite often too.. maybe it will help..
As for getting your spot up in the searches.. I still don't know how to do that.. "for free".. I've got link backs everywhere.. and links to others too.. submitted to tons of search engines.. (by the way, should you do that over and over again?? and how often?)
As for Montana and Wyoming.. I was going to ask you about that about a month or two ago.. I have had hits from both places.. I don't normally keep up with where everyone comes from.. although I would like to have something on the front page for current visitors.. (I saw that somewhere, but can't find it now..)

Where do you want to be listed..Yahoo, Google..All of them? Let me know...I'll help you out. That part is easy.
And you only need to do it once. Once the Search Engines are jump started, the process goes quickly. Tou have a site map already don't you? If not Google creates one. And a robots.txt file? Like I've gloated ( like that word? ) about, every site I've ever made I do amazing things with Search Engine rankings. Only down side, the individual usually loses interest after the first year, and never subscribes to the host for a 2nd year.
What kind of visitor info would you like displayed?
I think my most obsure or small country is 'The Gambia' That one I had to Google to make certain it was a country. It is.

I've submitted it to yahoo google, msn.. etc.. all the big ones.. and several other ones..
I'm not sure what you mean about the visitor info?? do you mean the discription/meta tags.. search terms?
I've done all of that, if that's what you mean.. but still not rated very high.. which like I said.. is okay by me.. It's really just something I like to mess around with..

For visitor info, Didn't you say you saw something once about visitors you wouldn't mine displaying on Paratracker? Or did I misread? I do that alot.
I do the Night Sky pretty much as a hobby too, I sure ain't doing it for the money. But I'd still like to see it do well.
Only thing ( Things ) I won't do...is join any web-ring where they have rules, and you have to put their banner on the main page. And I won't subscribe to any search engine that requires a link back.
Have you ever tried Web CEO? ( Did I mention that once before? I got that Deja Vu feeling )

Yeah you sent me info on that web ceo.. I think I used it a couple of times..
As for the visitor thingy I was talking about.. I found it today.. it's just a little widget that you can place on your page(s) to show where your visitors are from.. I only placed it on the front page.. (not sure if it's like stat counter or not)
It's pretty cool.. although, I don't really care for the way it flips to show online users.. (It goes too fast in my opinion, and it's distracting..) So, I'll try it out for a while and see if I like it..
As for the webrings.. I get a lot of visitors from that.. but, I'm like you and don't really care for it on the front page.. I may do away with that too..

I'll check it...Might be a way to slow it down a bit. Maybe.
I like it...It's not really fast, I'm thinking it's set that way, because eventually it'll be slowed down a tad...because there will be more entries.
I clicked on what should be my entry...rochester, nothing showed on the map...it showed somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.
I'd keep it though...it's cool, and informative.
