Fireflies???
Some friends and I went to visit an old cemetery this evening.. it was raining so hard by the time we got there, that we couldn't get out of the car. We decided that we'd wait a while, and see if it settled down enough to maybe do some recordings. Well.. we went ahead and took some pictures from the car, as the rain seemed to lighten up a bit, we also started our recorders, just in case..
We had such an uneasy feeling, that by the time, the rain let up enough, we were too chicken to get out of the car. I happend to look into the cemetery.. which was up a pretty steep hill beside the car, and I noticed a light, I thought at first it was a firefly,.. but then it didn't blink.. and it seemed to be gliding.. instead of flitting around like they do. I told my friend to shine her flashlight over that way, and we lost it.. I searched the car for the camera, and I saw it again, coming down the hill.. actually.. GLIDING down the hill, behind the car.. never blinking.. I started to believe that it wasn't a firefly. Then I looked through the back windshield.. and It had stopped right behind the car.. and was just floating there..
My friends were in the front seats.. and seen two more appear in front of the car.. I turned around and stuck my camera out the window, and managed to take two pictures.. and you can actually see a yellow light.. like a firefly. Then another appeared behind the car.. they were approx. 2 feet apart from each other..
We decided, we'd had enough.. one way in and one way out.. so we drove a bit further and turned around.. and then, we thought.. well.. lets just see if that WAS fireflies...
We turned the headlights off.. and they did the SAME exact thing.. they came right to the car, like they were checking us out..
I kept trying to tell myself,.. it was just lightning bugs.. but these did NOT flash at all.. in fact, as we were leaving.. one actually seem to be getting bigger,.. and glowing a brighter light, at first, I thought it might be someone's porchlight, but we wasn't near anyone's house, and it started heading towards our car..
Well.. that was it.. we got out of there.. I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this same type of experience? I've done some research on ghost lights, and I don't know if that's what they were or not..
I would love your input.

We actually went back to this place a couple nights ago.. and saw the same thing. To me, I don't know.. they don't look like firefly's.. but, with that much activity, I don't know if it's paranormal either. I would love to hear what other's think it might be.
There were fireflies near by, and they were all flashing.. but these near the cemetery, were not. There were several of them too.. and the lights were somewhat dimmer than fireflies.
I'm quite intrigued by this.. would love to hear your comments.

I found this on another website:
Male adult fireflies can be made to glow continuously. When they are glowing continuously this gives you the opportunity to get some interesting photographs. Several examples of continuous glow are when a firefly is smashed, injured or begins to expire. Also when a firefly is captured by a spider it flashes repeatedly and then after some minutes glows constantly after the venom from the spider has paralyzed its muscles.
So.. after reading this.. NO.. I have come to the conclusion that these were NOT fireflies. They were in the middle of the road, as well as gliding up and down the hill at a strange pace. They seemed curious about us.. and I don't think these were injured or anything like that.
Hmm.. would like to know what you think.

I have had the exact thing happen to me well since i saw them when we went up there but the ones i saw wer NOT fireflies. The light came down the hill if it was a firefly i dont think they would care were the hill was they would just go over the top of the hill down. And the one that went down the hill it stopped at the bottom then went back up like it was just wanting to see what was going on. then we turned around then came back and i saw one in the headlight before the headlights were turned of it was a lot brighter than the headlights. The way they were moving is like a human not like a bug they were like gliding down. There were two of them behind the car when i saw them and still quite a few on the hill. There were a TON of them on the hill.

I also posted this same topic on the TAPS forum, and I actually had one reply that stated they had seen something similar. They also said that the lights they saw appeared to glow a blue color as well.. almost like they changed.
They said that they had never met anyone else who had claimed to experience the same thing. I just wonder, how common is this?

I don't know we went up there last weekend and we saw NOTHING so maybe they were shy if it was paranormal related there were fireflies all around and you could spot the difference the 1st time

I'm glad my memory still works, the firefly thing jogged mine a wee bit. check out this link once on the Skin Walker Ranch in Utah, about half way down the page.

Pretty interesting link.. It said that they noticed them flashing though, the one's we spotted didn't blink at all, that's what caught our attention. There were several, and they seemed to notice us, and surrounded the car, and just kind of hovered there.. was really quite freaky..
The link you posted.. that sure would be something to see, I know there are several different types of luminescent critters around, but I don't think I've ever heard of a blue colored one..

The Skin Walker Ranch sounds too interesting to pass up, I've been trying to find out as much as I can on it, and create a page for it. I think that Utah is about the only state of the 50 I don't have a friend in...or even an enemy. I can usually have them get information for me. But in this instance...I can't.

that is pretty cool.maybe next time you go up there you can take video footage.seems to me you have a couple spirits either needing help or are just protecting the grave sites or specific grave's. the way the lights surrounded your car to me makes me feel like they were sending you a message to stay away.if a group of people started surrounding your car and just stood there what would you imply from that gesture?not saying that they are mallicious spirits. if they were they might have done something. but maybe just protectors and making sure no one messes with the graves or a particular spirit that resides in the cemetary.or you can look at is they were just checking you and being curious. trying to get help. and when you drove away the light got bigger and stronger because he/she is trying to get your attention.just some things im sure you have already thought of.
