Ya gotta be careful with bird feathers too. Did you know... That if you should ever find a Bald Eagle feather on the ground, It's illegal for you to pick it up or keep it? Unless you are an American Indian. I heard that 15 years ago. Even though we are natural born Americans...we are not Native Americans, And it's ok for them...not ok for us. It's a federal crime. Go figure.

Yes, I did know that.. they also passed a law a few years ago to protect Native American crafting.. like dreamcatchers.. they became so popular that everyone was making them... passing them off as "indian made".. that is illegal too.. I greatly respect Native American's (my grandfather was a Cherokee indian).. I know how hard they've had it, and I can honestly say that I understand why those laws were passed..

I just couldn't understand why...or the reasoning. The person who told me about it was Cherokee as well ( From Montana ) He never gave any reason, just told me 'matter of factly' at a campfire one night.

I read something about the Eagle Feathers.. I think they banned them for one because they are an endangered species.. and they allow Native American's to possess them because of their previous spiritual and religious belifs, and customs..

I Love Wikipedia. I also like the fact that if something is in error, you can correct it...or at least make it known you have different information, or thoughts on the topic.
Did you notice...there was no reference to what year it was enacted? ( No year I could find ) I saw the 1500's and I think it was 1791, but no year as to when it became official.
Unless I missed something.

I couldn't find an exact date that stated that either.. so I looked it up a bit and found this from the Fish and Wildlife Service..
