It was probably around the same time I remember it.. It had to be in the late 70's early 80's.. (don't really remember when) I was a kid in Michigan.. on my birthday.. May 31, it was snowing.. Not like a blizzard or anything.. I don't think it even collected on the ground.. but that was pretty odd..

Yes, I was thinking around 1977 or 1978, ( I too was thinking of the date by where I was living at the time ) I don't think it was in the 80's.

I can't really remember.. could be the same time, I was pretty young. I remember stepping out onto my front steps and catching the snowflakes in my mouth..

It looks as if we might have a good one this year.. at least I'm hoping.. What is the tale about the black / brown fuzzy caterpillers?? They say it's supposed to forcast how many winter storms or something like that? Usually I see brown ones, or one's with one brown stripe in the middle.. I saw a black one the other day..

Don't quote me...and go buy a 4x4 with a snow plow or anything, but if I remember right...the wider the black stripe...the worse the winter will be. If you saw an all black one you may be in for a nasty winter. Maybe ya better buy a few snow shovels. ( And Long Johns )

Maybe you should go out and buy a big old 4x4 with a plow on front, You could start up a side business. Make a killing for 4 weeks or so emoticon

I should! emoticon But around here, even with storms.. it is usually gone within a few days.. I remember an ice storm we had about 10 years ago... it was horrible, with all the hills, and drop-offs.

We had a tree come down and brake the awning off of our front door, and block the entry. We couldn't get the car out of the driveway because it was blocking it.. was SO glad we weren't in the house at the time.. Luckily my father-n-law had picked us up in his 4x4, and we were at his house.. (We did hear the tree cracking though.. that's an eerie experience!)

Trees cracking in an ice storm..or after one, is the worst sound.

I think what is really the worst sound, is the lack of sound. It's usually so quiet...that's the scary part.

Yeah, I've experienced that before.. that is pretty creepy. Just like when it's pouring and stops suddenly.. everything gets so still.. makes you nervous.

Do you think it's got something to do with the quiet before the storm?? Thinking maybe it will get worse than what you were just through?
