Re: Psychic Ability
I'm actually learning the same thing in my metaphysics course.. and everybody has the skill, most people just push it away early in life.
They mentioned that intuition is a form of psychic ability.. how many times have you did or didn't do something.. because you FELT you should? If you learn to trust that, when it happens, you can actually develop it more fully.. (there are LOTS of exercises you can do too) It is all so very interesting.. and I think I'm learning alot..
Over the last few days, I have been trying to work with this.. when words pop into your head, just out of nowhere, that is usually them.. the other night, I said a prayer for protection.. asked if my spirit guide was there, and to help me do what I was supposed to do.. right after doing that.. a man's voice popped in my head and said... "Forgive Me".. (there have been many family members who have passed, and I couldn't think of who this would be from.. except one person..) My father.. I hadn't seen him since I was 15.. he was an abusive alcoholilc, who left when I was 2.. He only recently passed away.. (less than 3 months ago..)
The weird part of this is.. I was not scared at all.. this did not freak me out as bad as when it was whispered in my ear. (I also felt that I already forgave him.. but maybe I am still holding something in.. and haven't done it completely) ??
As for your wife... I can't say I'd blame her.. It would be hard to have your husband driving cross country all the time.. maybe you could become a "team" My childhood friends' dad did that, and his wife ended up joining him.. they went all over, and had so many stories to share..

Re: Psychic Ability
It may have freaked you more ( The Whisper ) because that is more personal / intimate than just a spoken word. That would be my thought.
I think wanting to be a truck driver is just that...a want. When I talk to the drivers who come in and hear the horror stories, it kind of tells me I'm okay where I'm at.

Re: Psychic Ability
hehehe.. I can understand that.. I moved to Tennessee wanting to be a singer.. I took one walk through Nashville, and said.. there's NO WAY... I wouldn't even try.. but that's okay.. I still sing in the shower and in the car.. and have fun doing it.. (I don't think it was for me anyway..)
As for the whisper.. I believe you're right.. hearing it like that was very uneasy.. I have heard it both ways before.. but just thought it was something paranormal.. I didn't realize that it was some kind of gift, and I should try to work with it..
I feel like I'm starting to understand why I've been drawn to this for so many years.. maybe I was trying to figure something out about me. Things seem to be making more sense..

Re: Psychic Ability
Have you had an interest in this all your life? From a young age?
You were probably 'planned' to do this...use your talent, And to help other people. It was all in some master planning. ( I do believe this )

Re: Psychic Ability
Well.. when I was very young.. 6 or 7, I saw what looked like some kind of shadow being.. it scared the life out of me, and till this day, I cannot go to sleep without the covers being up to my chin.. that's as far back as I can remember about being curious about this.
I have always felt that I was supposed to DO something, or learn something.. but didn't know how, or what it was exactly.. I have always been intrigued by the unknown.. But, I was raised to believe it was made up.. "no such thing as ghosts".. (even though my mother didn't really believe that.. she would tell me things like that, I think to keep me from being scared) Whenever I would hear something.. she'd tell me it was probably God talking to me.. Years later I found out she'd had experiences of her own.
So, I just brushed most everything off.. until I lost my father-n-law.. he was more of a father figure than anyone else has ever been.. three years later, my husband passed away.. I was so full of grief and questions, and the feelings of needing to know.. just got stronger, I read every book I could about life after death, unexplained phenomenon.. paranormal in general.. Most only gave me more questions..
I think the losses only served as a catalyst for the need to know, and if it is supposed to lead me in that direction, then I guess I'm ready to accept it..
I believe everything happens for a reason.. maybe that is why I finally decided to go back to school.. I'm willing to accept that I have heard/seen things, and that it wasn't really "paranormal".. that maybe it was in fact, something I'm supposed to be doing.
Maybe there is no such thing as paranormal.. maybe it is all a matter of perception..

Re: Psychic Ability
I liked that last line you added. I can agree with it, alot.
I do think people believe things and understand things on totally different levels. Some don't believe at all while others tend to almost go over the edge.
I really believe that religion and faith play a role in this too.
My brother is very into God, as well as my Sister-In-Law ( Not my brothers wife ). Neither are of a more common or popular faith, Catholic, Methodist , Luthern ect and both have completely different views of each other, as well as the world. One believes in UFO's the other won't think of it.
They have different beliefs on whether or not there is a Heaven or Hell. ( Or to the degree of it's existance anyway ) Which in itself is interesting.
One is OK with Harry Potter, the other isn't.

Re: Psychic Ability
Sounds a lot like the general diversity of the human population..
But, that is what keeps things interesting, and also what makes people dedicated to some things too. I agree with what you said about faith and religion.
I also think everyone gets to a point in their life that they question their beliefs and tend to re-evaluate them.

Re: Psychic Ability
Agreed, with most of that. I doubt I'll ever want to rethink how I believe in UFO's...Government Cover-Ups , and topics along those lines. I can be really Bone-Headed when something gets stuck in my mind.

Re: Psychic Ability
Well.. I'm talking more about religious beliefs.. things that go back to your childhood.. how you were raised.
Like when I was young.. I was raised very strickly that the Bible was pure fact.. a lot of people believe that.. and there's nothing wrong with that.. BUT.. later I learned most scriptures were metaphores for something else.. and it was based on each person's interpertation of it.. (confusing if you ask me).
I wondered.. where did dinosaurs come from? They did in fact exist.. (just no where in the bible).. that never made sense to me. So.. my beliefs began to change, I still feel like I am a very spiritual person.. just not in the way organized religions portray it.
I feel like Mulder, when he said.. "You'd be surprised at what I believe"...

Re: Psychic Ability
I think you made a very good point there Shell. I was raised pretty strict as well, but not so on religious beliefs ( I think that shows ) But the point you made was a good on, I've always believed in evolutionism over creationism. I've went to church with a few girlfriends in my past, varied faiths, and had a tough time swallowing most of the things the services were about. I think the big thing that shut me down on religion was when I was really young...5,6 or 7 or so, maybe one Sunday a year or every 5 months we would get taken to Sunday School. I was so lost in those classes, had no idea what class I was supposed to go to, we were just dropped off, my parents would pick me up a couple hours later. It wasn't a fun time for me. And was never curious as I got older to get involved...only bad childhood memories.
And I still think I have way better morals and beliefs than most commited religous people. ( My brother and Sister-In-Law included )
I think many religions have lost their integrity..especially the Catholics and their Priests and Cardinals that prey on little boys. I know I have better morals than them. They make the entire religion look like a bunch of hypocrites or politicians saying "Do as I say, not as I do."
