Spirit Guides
Last night, I was listening to a meditation mp3 from Hayhouse Radio . (awesome site by the way..) Half of it was like a deep relaxation exercise. They went to a commercial and came back with John Edwards.. (which was cool.. I like him) He also did a deep relaxation exercise, and this one seemed to work.
The basic technique was to meet your spirit guide. Through this exercise, I had a visual of a grey haired native american. John's instructions were to ask this person his name, and the first reply I got was Charlie. This was supposed to be my main spirit guide.. according to the exercise, I was supposed to have this "main guide" leave the room, and return with another person. This person was a woman with very long dark hair. But, I couldn't quite make out actual facial features.. but I heard the name.. Sophie..
Wheather or not this was my imagination, or if it was something that was really experienced, I'm not sure.
The process was to try and visualize these images, and take the first response recieved.
Afterward, I had to wipe tears away from my face. It was quite a strange experience, and it would be cool if this was real.
I'm going to keep trying to do this exercise, and see if I can actually find more meditations to try.

Re: Spirit Guides
I'll check the site...you've not led me...or anyone else I know of to anything not interesting.
Now...the meditation exercise sounds intriguing to me, the way you described it , first with Charlie, and then Sophie I think is what really sparked my attention, It appears very much to be a reality, not your imagination, especially the emotional part...the tears. They don't just come from an imagination, there has to be an equal or better part of reality as well.
1 question, when doing the exercise...do you need quiet? ( I get very little of that )

Re: Spirit Guides
2 things I really like....Free & New Age. Got interested in that years ago...not sure...remember a radio show called Musical Star Streams? Was what got me hooked. I will definitely give it a listen, Maybe I can enhance my MP3 collection a bit.
Thanks Michelle for the tip on that.
Actually...thanks for everything...you come up with very good links.

Re: Spirit Guides
I wanted to share something I just found out about the other night.
My mom and I were having a long discussion about life/death.. afterlife.. etc.. We got to talking about John Edward, and I told her about my experiences with that meditation.. (I have done it one more time since then, and also seen the same people, especially "Charlie".. )
Anyway, as I was describing it to her, she sat right up and said, "That sounds like you're describing your great-grandfather" She said his name was Charles, he lived deep in the woods in Northern Michigan. She'd only seen pictures of him, and said that he died before she was born. Her uncle was living in the house that used to be her grandfathers, which she visited when she was a teenager.. I even described the house to her!
The second time I tried the meditation, I was in a different area, the house was a log cabin deep in the woods, but was in a clearing. A river was near by and I even told her which direction it was from the house, and she said I was right about all of it..
She said that he was a full blooded Cherokee, who lived off the land and was extremely spiritual, and he always dressed in the native american attire. But other than that, she really didn't know anything, except from what she saw in pictures.
I think this is way too coincidental to be my imagination now.. it was weird to describe these things to her and hear her agree with where things were at.
I also found out that my aunt.. my mom's sister, was very sensitive.. psychic if you want to call it that.. she said that ever since she could remember she was always talking to herself.. (which she thought she was doing)
There was once when they were young, they shared a house together. One night my mom had went to bed, my aunt came into the bedroom and said.. "don't move.. and don't scare them away.. my mom was like.. what are you talking about?? My aunt told her to look at the foot of the bed, and she saw an impression like someone was sitting there.. my mom started shaking and my aunt started talking to this spirit.. she asked if they used to live in that house.. and if my mom and her were taking care of it like they needed to.
She said that she talked with "it" for a couple of minutes, then the impression rose up, and my aunt walked off like it was nothing.. my mom was ready to pack up and leave, she was so scared.. hehehe..
She had told me this story years ago.. but I just thought it was a random paranormal experience.. I had no idea my aunt spoke with them, or that she could see them.
She also said one time when my aunt was little.. she was on the floor playing with a dog, and the dog looked up. My aunt looked up too, and looked back at the dog, and said.. so, you can see them too, huh?.. and went back playing like nothing was strange..
So, I just thought these were very interesting things, and I wanted to share them. Maybe found out a little about myself in the process..

Re: Spirit Guides
Seeing the impression go away would definitely give me feelings. I can't say if I would be awe struck, or climbing under a bed ( Same thing I think about if I actually had an encounter ) I think I'd be ok, but I would definitely have a whole different outlook of all of my surroundings. The story you told...that was really interesting, With your Great-Great Grandfather. I think that in earlier times people in general were more aware of things, and their abilities...as well as aware of themselves. I think with all the technology of our times, abilities and senses such as you described have went away. I don't think they are lost, but I think they have been put on the back burner.

Re: Spirit Guides
Actually he was my mom's grandfather. And her dad was completley different from him, from what I remember, he was very strict and religious, but he didn't believe in ghosts, or share the native american beliefs.. he was very christian-like and went by the book.. He believed you either went to heaven or hell.. case closed.
You were not allowed talk about anything out of the ordinary.. so my aunt was looked on like she was a bit crazy. To believe in such things was just nonsense. So for my mom's reaction, I can understand that.
My mom is now very open-minded and has also seen things she cannot explain, she has even seen her dad at least twice since he has passed on, and both times he was smiling at her. I think it is his way of saying.. hmm.. maybe it wasn't like I thought it was..
I really agree with what you said.. I think we still use these abilities, but we discount them, thinking it's only coincidence. I think everyone has the ability, but they don't realize they are pushing it away, or ignoring it.
I am so excited about learning all of this new information. It really makes me want to explore the possiblities a lot more.

Re: Spirit Guides
It seems your family is way more open minded than mine. I've had Aunts/Uncles ( and probably my immediate family ) have experiences of one type or another.... but no one talks much about them. I have an Uncle who was abducted...won't say a thing about it. An Aunt seeing the other side...just a number of things. Yet MUM's the word. I can't figure out why.

Re: Spirit Guides
I think my mom's dad was that way because it was looked on years ago like that was something evil, and experiencing something like that meant that you were being "tested" which was something very personal.
That's what I'm thinking anyway.. that's kind of how I was raised as well, even when I was little and lived in a house that I swear was haunted, it was brushed off like it was my imagination.
In fact, I didn't even think my mom believed in the paranormal, I'd heard her talk about seeing things when she was little too, but she never went into great detail.. (like the experience with the impression in the bed) I just found out about 3 years ago, that she believed in reincarnation..
I think the more you experience, the more you believe.

Re: Spirit Guides
It would still be nice to be brought up where you can speak what you think...to a point, without being brow-beat. We never could say what we thought. When I was a kid...if I would say I believed in UFO's or Ghosts or anything...we would have appointments made with a therapist. I blame that on the strict German upbringing, Now though I open up and say what I think...people say you grew up in the 60's...right. Meaning they think I'm a doper or something.
