Re: Spirit Guides
Yeah, I can understand that.. things were not as open as they are now. I'm thankful that my mom always let me speak my mind.. even though, when I was little and experienced things, it was brushed off like my imagination.. But, I think a lot of parents say that because they don't want their kids to be afraid of things like the dark, or let their imagination run wild.
But when those things are really there, it really kind of messes your mind up when you're told it's all in your head. It makes you question if you're nuts, and I think that's why people tend to push their sixth sense out of their heads.
I have tried to be always be open like that with my kids, and have never told them it was their imagination.. I think letting them speak their minds has really helped them to overcome fears that most kids have. I would rather know what they were thinking anyway, and now that they are older, they feel they can always come and tell me anything, and they know I'll listen.

Re: Spirit Guides
I have another story on my "spirit guide" and how she prevented me from getting stabbed!!
When i was a junior in high school i was a T.A. for a math class for students who failed their first year of math. There was this guy who was in there who was always flirting with me even though i told him nicely i wasnt interrested. Almost 3/4 way through the year he still didnt get the message and kept needing my help w/ his work and he tried to hang out for lunch and after school. He even tried to break in during my dance class, and he snuck back stage during one of our shows and got suspended.
One day before the bell rang he asked me to wait up for him after class b/c he had something for me but i was already going to be late for dance! The bell rang and i was headed the same way i go every day to dance class but i heard my name being called by the familiar voice of my "spirit guide" and i decided to go the long way to dance class. Turns out the guy went around the corner that i usually go and seen a girl simimlar to me from behind and stabbed her in the arm!! When she turned and screamed he was upset it wasnt me and ran to find me!! He got taken to juvy and confessed to every thing even the part that the stabbing was meant for me!! The random girl he stabbed had to have 14 stitches and some therapy!!
I felt bad for her but i also was glad it wasnt me!!
I just recently seen him working at subway! I dont go there any more, i go the extra distance to the one a little furthur away.
thank you spirit guide!!

Re: Spirit Guides
You go to Quizno's now huh?
Schools have changed so much in recent years. We had fights in the halls, bomb scares ( So we could get the afternoon off ) but we never had full time cops in schools, or metal detectors. Pretty scary going to a public school now.
Like the Columbine one...man...who would have thought. Now they are trying to say it was government backed...Not sure if I'll go for that.
But you are right...Your Spirit Guide was watching out for you.

Re: Spirit Guides
That is pretty incredible.. if only more people would actually listen to that little voice..
And you're right.. schools are just not like they used to be.
I wonder if that boy ever learned anything.. I would be a little nervous about bumping into him around town..

Re: Spirit Guides
It is scary how schools are today! It made me feel better about having a full time officer @ my school BUT when that happened i realized that he wont always be at the right time and the right place!!
Thats why my son is going to go to a private school! I already have them all lined up! If its that bad now how is it going to be in 10 yrs when my son goes to school!??!?!
I always listen to "her" now and so far its helped me out alot!!

Re: Spirit Guides
I know what you mean.. one reason I decided to homeschool my two. This will be their third year. My daughter is starting high school this year.. without the worry of the "high school" Even in this little town, the high school and middle schools have already developed a reputation.
I know it isn't always an option to be able to homeschool your kids. But if you can, I'd give it a try.
When I was in school, I didn't have to worry about the same things kids do now. How can they expect kids to concentrate on their studies if they have to be concerned about their safety too?
One thing I have taught my kids, is to always go with their gut feelings.. if something doesn't feel right.. there's usually a reason why. I think everyone should take that advice.

Re: Spirit Guides
I know exactly what you're talking about.. but it is a good option if you are ever able to do it..
I wasn't so concerned when my kids were in elementary.. as they got older, things just seemed to get worse in their schools.. When I finally decided to give it a go, I was going back to school and was able to be home with them more. I don't even know if I will be able to do it throughout the rest of their schooling.. but I'm going to try. If it's meant to be..

Re: Spirit Guides
You should make a kind of game plan for youself though, Just to get going in one direction or the other. You know...start a work at home business, take a class...get out of the rut of working for someone else all your life...work for yourself.
Damn...don't I sound like a parent?
