Re: Striking a blow for writers I'm not a fan of Coren. 'Nepotism' is the word that springs to mind when I hear his name.
If I was sub-editing that letter, I'd have a field day with the clumsy use of American commas and the lack of distinction between the proper clauses and sub-clauses, not to mention the lack of capitalisation for proper nouns and at the beginning of sentences.
Someone at The Guardian has published that letter 'as is' and without any corrections, simply to make the man look like a tit: the fullness of errors within the text simply undermine the point that he's trying to make. He just comes across as a petulant 'big fish'.

But you're right of course; it's just nice to see a bit of petulance in the public eye. Somehow because Giles has made a fool of himself it's okay to fly into sulks oneself.
There was a follow up to it where he claims not to know how his missive has ended up published. I would be surprised if a media darling such as Coren would lose track of such things.
