It's Blair Witch in a foreign language, isn't it? Nevertheless, I'm also excited

... with zombies
I can't wait.
Oh yes, BLAIR WITCH had an imaginary witch, didn't it. Zombies are cool as long as they get reinvented every now and again.
By the way, I'm still reading Kirkman's WALKING DEAD, I love it.

Did I say that it's out in March?
No you didn't, but out where? It's s foreign film so it's not likely to play at Meridian Parkway. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN came out last Friday and they're not showing that until next week!
I doubt it would get screened in Cleethorpes; I'm still stung about the Parkway's failure to screen NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN; just about every film that I wanted to see at the tail end of last year (THE BRAVE ONE, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES, DEATH SENTENCE) was on for a week and no more, meaning that I missed all of them.
[REC] may be a straight-to-DVD release in the UK; aside from the release date (21 March) I can't find any hard information on whether or not it is getting a limited cinema release before being released on home video.
By the way, you don't need to reinvent zombies: you just need to put them in new contexts and let them do their 'same old same old'

I loved this.
The last ten minutes got under my skin, though. I can't sleep now

That's good, isn't it?
Yes... and no.
Within weeks of the opening of CLOVERFIELD, it's nice to see that a technique used by a big Hollywood blockbuster can still work so well when deployed in a low-budget Spanish film.
If CLOVERFIELD is a metaphor for the whole 9/11 scenario, which seems to be the case, I would imagine [REC]--with its confined setting, 'infected' people and its movement up into the 'secret' of the building (which, without ruining the film, has a strong religious dimension)--probably chimes even more bells. (Although the Spanish have a history of using zombies as a metaphor for either Spain's fascist past under Franco or the threat from the Basques.)
