Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
Typical. Now they'll be coming out of the woodwork!
And I'm sure you're already scheming a way to convince your wife that you "really need spares for the future!"
Yeah, and what are you going to buy her?

It would be purely in the interests of historical research!

Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
Do I spot an English Dyna-sonic in there? The kit looks well rusted and very sorry for itself so I guess the snare may also be in poor condition. Think I'll email the seller.

Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
Seller has had a lot of interest apparently so he is taking extra photos.

Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
I hope Rojax will forgive me one day. I went to pick them up yesterday. Hoops and collets are rusted but very nice shells, no extra holes or cracks in the wrap, and no big areas of damage, and such a cute 20" bass drum I just couldn't resist.
I'll have to sell a few things to fund this purchase. Because these look the same as the Blue Ripple Sparkle that I already have my wife hasn't noticed yet what I went to pick up!

Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
That's ok Nut Box, I'm glad they've gone to a good home, and look forward to seeing a photo of your double set. It all certainly looked in challenging condition and would be fun to bring back to life, especially that snare. My wife thought the set was a heap of rubbish - no imagination!

Re: Rarte English Rogers Tiger Stripe
I paid £375 and I think I didn't get too bad a deal.
The Dyna although a bit rusty is complete; snare frame (complete with black bands), original snare wires, early Dyna badge in good condition, and the best of all an ER script logo. Just one small ding in the shell. The last complete ER Dyna I saw sell on eBay but in much better condition went for £258 ($400).
The rest of the set has surface scratches but no big damage and no extra holes.
The bass drum has 7 of those mystery t rods like my other set which it turns out are John Grey, another London drum maker.
Most of the drums have a serial number 105*** which is well into 1967 and a little latter than my previous Blue Ripple Sparkle (I reckon that that is what Ajax may have called this wrap thinking about their naming convention).
The set is in my shed at the moment. Some of the lugs are proving hard to get off due to corrosion so those photos may be a while in coming.
