Nutbox, Beautiful rare finish and in bulk an amazing sight to see. Double bass in the works...WOW! That will make a great picture. Glad these drums are in the hands to be restored properly and well cared for. Great stuff. New life into old drums...Peace, Gary

These are the eBay photos of the kit that came up after Borsaida had sent the first kit from Sweden.

Image

As you can see very rusty. Stored in an old summerhouse probably for years.

Image

Just finished the 20" bass drum and thought you might like to see. As someone pointed out if you right click and "view image" then left click you get a full screen photo.

Image

Had to steal a lot of parts from a 1962 kit that I am going to rewrap eventually.

Image

The sun was out so you can see the sparkle in this.

Image

Note this kit also has those John Grey t rods.

Image

You will notice fade and some scratches but no extra holes or big damage.

Image

Bass logo I knocked up myself on the computer from a logo I scanned in then laminated and hey presto!

Image

I would apologise for the number of photos but we all love them.

Nut Box, you have one of the most beautiful and rare drum sets we've seen. Great shots! Would love to hear an English Rogers some day.

You know TK so would I! I've been getting them together now for two and a half years and I still don't have one that I could gig. I've been distracted into getting my XP8 players up and running and collecting cymbals and the like.
The English Rogers Mardi Gras has some damage which needs repair and doesn't sound like I remember, probably due to the rounded bearing edges. In 1962 as I understand it Rogers introduced the Powertones with the sharper bearing edges, and I have come to realize that that is when Ajax sharpened theirs as well. The kits I had as a youngster had sharp edges and were from 1963/64. So although they never used that term in the catalogues, they were English Powertones.
This Blue Ripple will be the first that I will get up to a playing standard, and that isn't far away now.

Yeah, Nut Box! Be sure to let us know. You'll probably hear a big difference between it and the XP8s. Both very nice, just different era sounds.

T Rod, I don't think I have any secrets. I polished the wrap with Novus. No.2 seems to make the most differences, which is what others say as well.
I put the chrome in a bath of Oxalic Acid overnight. Freely available in the UK but more of a problem in the US I understand. A lot of the hardware was beyond help though so took parts off another set.
The English Dyna I got with this set came up well .......
