Beautiful Okjohne. Great story, and you got 'em. The only Platinums we've ever seen. We have some rare drum sets between the members of this forum, but this is another first. Good on ya.

I gotta check out this other drum site where you and Ploughman hang out.

Really cool looking drums, I do like the platinum color. Reminds me of my old Mustang which had strawberry red & platinum colors on it emoticon

I've also got my hands on a silver mist kit a couple of months ago. Anybody wanna see pics of that one? Haven't had a chance to set it up as I haven't had the money to get new heads for the kit. Mine isn't an XP-8 though, it's a 5-ply kit with one XP-8 shell.

Sizes are 12,13,14,15(XP-8),18 and 24. Also got a script Dyna with it which is in quite nice shape. Too bad the snare frame is missing as usual, so it's a players drum then. This is an early 75/76 kit as it's got the knobby legs on the ft.

Wrap is othewise nice but there is some seam lifting which I'll try and fix with 2-sided tape. Also one of the bd hoops is replaced. Now if I only found a 24" bd hoop, a 16" ft and a 22" bd in the same color and I'd have a kick ass set on my hands...

This is a set of 1968 Ludwigs that my 14 year old son and I
have been working on for almost a year. I found them on Craig's list for $160.00. They had a wood veneer wrap that was painted over. Consequently the wrap bubbled badly. The hardware wasn't in the greatest shape and had missing parts.

My son wanted the red glass glitter from Jammin Sams and he did the bass drum hoops with tung oil. That was a tip that we got from John Ploughman.

From the movie 'A League of Their Own':

"Crying?"
"There's no crying in baseball!"

"Ludwig?"
"There's no Ludwig on a Rogers Board!"

(Just kidding. Nice job.)

20-12-16 Clevelands. Orphan project shells that happened to have close serials. I got the floor tom in a trade, already done, the others were in rough shape to start, but I don't recall any extra holes. Completed summer of 2008.
