Posting Images using Photobucket
Photobucket is a free photo sharing service. There are others but this is the one used by most members here. You can find them at: http://photobucket.com
Here are a few things to help you get the most out of Photobucket.
1) PB will generate an IMG code for you to post on forums. This is a good option generally, but this forum automatically reduced the size of your photos, so detail that you're trying to show may disappear in the reduction. Here's a post with the straight IMG codes, which reads, removing asterisks, like this:
[*IMG]http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/vigilantefromvenus/1879St.jpg[/IMG*]
Good, but small.
2) One way of getting around this is to post a direct link, which PB also generates. The direct link to the above pic is (remove asterisks again)
h*ttp://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/vigilantefromvenus/1879St.jpg
When you post on this forum you're given an "Insert Link" option. What you do is remove the http and backslashes of your PB direct link and just cut and paste the business end of the link into the "Insert Link" box, like so:
i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93/vigilantefromvenus/1879St.jpg
Then you are prompted to enter a name for the link - I chose "My Photo." So we wind up with this text, My Photo, which when clicked on will show a full-size photo.
3) The final, double-tricky and best way to get a full-size image is posting a clickable thumbnail linked to the full-sized image. PB will generate that code for you if you select the image in PB and click the "Generate HTML and IMG Code" box at the bottom of your PB gallery page. That will take you to a page of pregenerated code. Just select the code in the box "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended" and the final result will be a clickable thumbnail like this:
Pardon the long tutorial but, since I know a lot more about computer graphics than I do about drums, this is a way for me to actually contribute something to the forums!
A great big ROF hand for Throwoff (Mike) for this handy information.
Remember you can post regular photos here also but if you want the high resolution large pictures use Mikes tips for linking.
