Re: Show Us Your Snares!
These are from my Roger Dynasonic collection and are very fine, early examples of Rogers seven line B&B COB Dynasonic's.
The first is a early 1961 straight side Dynasonic. The first metal Dynasonic's were made using very thin Gretsch shells, these were straight side shells with no bead pressed into the shell top and bottom. There were very few of these made and are very rare. This is serial number # 1191.
The next COB Dynasonic is a late 1961 serial number #2109 , it is in near mint condition.
The next one is a mid to late 1962 Dynasonic serial number # 2881 in very good condition. Note that all three of these have the first style badge (ones with a more pointed end, like a football, later the end is more rounded, starting about serial number # 3000)
This is a 6 1/2" X 14" Rogers 1975 Big R transition Dynasonic snare drum that never made it to the plating plant. It was probably made for a Rogers worker or a special gift or a special occasion.
I know it is 1975 transition drums because that the Big R badge is to the right of the throw and when I look up through the bottom at the back side of the vent hole, i see the two small holes in the shell that were used to mount the external oval badge.
When Rogers switched from oval badge to the foil Big R badge they had many shells that had been drilled for the oval badge, so they put the foil badge in that location over the pre-drilled oval badge holes until those shells were used up. They also have to script badge two bays to the left of the throw.
So this brass (never chromed) 6 1/2" Dynasonic is the only one I've ever seen. It may be the only one ever made.
In the 80s Rogers offered lacquered brass or chrome plated or 10 ply maple shelled Dynasonics, but they had isolation gaskets between the lugs and shell and some had brass knurled brass lock nuts on the batter
side rods.
Here are some Rogers wood Dynasonic Snare Drums from my collection.
1967 White Marine Pearl S/N 11860
1965 Black Onyx Pearl S/N 7396
1967 Blue Onyx Pearl S/N 11947
1967 Red Onyx Pearl S/N 11944
1968 Red Sparkle S/N 16242
1968 Blue Strata S/N 13998 (very rare)
1967 Silver Sparkle S/N 11998
1967 Black Diamond Pearl S/N 10735
1961 Blue Sparkle S/N 1343
1963 Pink Champagne S/N 3267
This is most of my Rogers Dynasonic collection. I've added several more wood and COB early Dynasonic snare drums since this photo.

You're a lucky man...beautiful drum and great restoration. I can't say I've ever seen anything nicer.

Nut Box,
That is a beautiful job - it is amazing to see the before and after pictures. Pristine, it must feel good.

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Thanx guys.
I will admit that I am quite chuffed. (English for feeling rather pleased with one's self.)

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
My latest acquisition, in a string of purchases (to my wife's dismay!).
This is a Fullerton Dyna-sonic, serial number 21930. Drum is all original, with Rogers snare side head, and complete....edited with a little better picture.
Due for major dismantling and cleaning.
Peter

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Alan, Great snares! We don't get to see that much of what happened over there -here. I am learning that when we were in Farmingdale NJ there were English throw offs being used on the early 1940s Rogers too. Just like they did in the later OH 1950s.
Peter, That is a Clean drum. Nothing like a well detailed Rogers drum. Nice!
Keep em coming...
