Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Beautiful snares Mike!!
And yes Bruce you are right, it does all that. That's kind of what I meant, and I do use it both ways, but you said it more precise. phil

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Gary & Phil, Thanks!
By the way, what does QED mean Tommy?
I just did get some insurance as a rider to my homeowners policy, my problem is that I have to keep updating it to cover any new purchases.
Thanks again. Doesn't that Spotlight snare look really pretty & colorful?
I still can't believe that I got the set for such a low price.

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Home owners insurance will only cover your fine instruments in the home and seldom for replacement value. They won't cover on the gig or in transport and there are many instances where they won't cover at all. I am vice president of local 498 AFM and we have an insurance carrier that will cover your instruments 24/7 for full replacement value and the only exclusion is nuclear war. It's very reasonable...$10,000 of coverage is under $300 a year.
I will look into this and see if the coverage is available to non members. If it is available send me a self addressed, stamped business sized envelope and I will send you a pamphlet and application.
I'll keep you posted.
Jack

Mike: From Wikipedia --
"Q.E.D. is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase "quod erat demonstrandum" (literally, "which was to be demonstrated"). In simple terms, the use of this Latin phrase is to indicate that something has been definitively proven."
Formally, the term is used at the end of a scientific statement when a theorem has been successfully proven. Colloquially, it is sometimes used as the definitive end statement, saying that "there can be no doubt about it, the argument is finished, it ain't up for discussion," etc.
So, if Gary says you are the Keeper of the Beavertail Mardi Gras Dyna, then...
...QED!
Tom

Jack, this sounds very, very reasonable. My homeowners insurance was pretty fussy, but I sent them pictures and told them that I would be the only one playing them and they seemed to go with it. However, I didn't think of the gigging part. I guess they'd have the same problem with a Stradivarius versus a violin purchased at a music store...
If you find out whether coverage for non members is available, please let us know, as I'd be interested.

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Tommy,
I feel as though I have been enlightened with the knowledge of the forum. This is truly a quality group with an enlightened & devoted membership: to which I say QED!
Gary,
This title carries a great burden & responsibility - are you sure you want to bestow this title upon me?

Re: Show Us Your Snares!
Tommy,
Don't forget to ask Powertone too. I am sure that if they don't have one, they know who does.
I believe that Dave Drew of Al Drew's Music store (who Bruce often recommends for various Rogers parts) has a Mardi Gras Dyna Sonic in Beavertail Lugs & Steve Maxwell had one in B&B lugs, but sold it.
Check out this archived article he wrote and see page 24 of the original article or page 3 of this file. It is an excellent read about wood Dyna Sonic snares and the rarity of various finishes.

Mike, I think that Dyna chose you! You are the Keeper...
I have not seen any other Mardi Bvtl Dynas in person or photo.
