BTW, Ploughman, you being very knowledgeable on Rogers drums, would you happen to know the answer to my Rogers tension rods dilemma?

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
For the present....... get some tension rods.
Then, over time, as you find them, buy the correct rods.

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
yeah, that's what I'm planning to do.
But what size tension rods would be used on a Rogers Holiday Cleveland floortom circa 1965??

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
the floor tom rods are around 2.75" overall length. Anything in that range will work, as long as they have American threads, not metric.
Gibralter rods in that length will work fine.
And I would not rewrap that kit.

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
That looks great!
I checked em out yesterday in person.
They look pretty good. The wrap is alot nicer in person than in the photo.
But the heads on it are total crap. Seriously, I couldn't hear the sound of it at all, because all of the heads on the drums were literally the ****tiest heads ever.
Besides that the snare was decent condition, but the dynasonic snare frame was missing, and the throwoff wasn't original. Is it weird that the badge of the dynasonic COB was a YELLOW big R?
And all this for USD 1300. I can't decide whether to actually get em or not.
Anyone care to describe how 1965 Rogers Cleveland drums would sound in good condition?
I am currently trying to decide between this kit and a 1970s Ludwig in Black Panther finish for over 300 bucks cheaper (the ludwig comes with a supra phonic and it's a 5 piece)
I could save alot of money and get the Ludwigs, and they'd still be nice, but I can tell, if I put work into these Rogers, they'd be really nice.
Agh.

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
Thinking the Big R badge actually has a Gold tint. I have a set with those color badges, but doesn't seem to be any special meaning with that shade.

Re: Rogers 1965 Holiday kit restoration
WOW, thats an amazing price.
I really can't decide whether to get the Rogers or not though. Right now, if I get em, theres a LOT I have to replace.
The Rogers tom arm, several tension rods, and the strainer on the Dynasonic are all not original.
And the Cymbal mount, bottom hoop for the 16", several tension rods and dyanasonic frame is all missing completely.
