Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

This is generating a fair amount of news.

I honestly can't see how mark's private life will be private again for a very very very very long time!

I hope he is prepared for this.

I hope we are prepared for this! emoticon

Game, set, girls for Scud in TV deal

Game, set, girls for Scud in TV deal
www.theage.com.au

STAND by for a dramatic change in the career direction of Mark Philippoussis with confirmation at the weekend that he has signed with an American television network to be the only male star in a reality program called Age of Love. In it the 30-year-old Melbourne-born Las Vegas-based tennis star dates 13 women, aged from 21 to 48, for an eight-episode series to be aired in the US next month and, no doubt, shown in Australia not long after that.

"I would just really like to meet someone. I'm just a simple guy who wants a simple girl," said bachelor Philippoussis who admits that the oldest woman he has ever dated was four years younger than him. "Age doesn't matter to me, all the women are beautiful," he said. "Through my agency, I found out that the producers were looking for a celebrity or an athlete for a Bachelor-type show and I auditioned."

Philippoussis' most famous relationship was with singer Delta Goodrem, but he has been unattached since last August after breaking up with 19-year-old model Alexis Barbara. In the program, filming for which has already begun, he occupies the 37th floor penthouse of a Los Angeles high-rise that network CBS has leased for him and the 13 contestants, who live on separate floors. "I was very nervous about everything. It was especially weird to be in my bathroom, brushing my teeth and shaving and showering, surrounded by all these cameras," he says. "To be honest, it was a little uncomfortable but now I've kind of settled down with the ladies. They're all so gorgeous and so comfortable to be with." Alas, some of the women have already been eliminated from the show. "I was so sad, I almost couldn't look in their eyes," he said. "For me, that was worse than playing the big match on centre court." Despite this off-field interruption and continuing knee problems the 2003 Wimbledon runner-up still hopes to play at the All England club this year.

I didn't want to create a new thread for every article. Appears that they have already filmed a few episodes with some of the ladies already leaving. Maybe filming will actually wrap up this month, well before Mark starts his grass court season.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

hey Guys, this news freaks me out i never thought Mark will ever do such kind of programme. I wasnt aware and my friend told me about this and i was like this was the only news and nothing else about Tennis. I felt quite bad first after all i cannot participate emoticon and i dont want to see him in public dating and loving somebody else, its okay if he keeps it secret.

What do you guys think about it? im not that happy hearing this news i would rather hear him fighting back in th court not on this emoticon . But i appreciate his decision and there must be some motive behind it, i hope he does finds the right girl for himself and who can also support him in improving his game. No matter what i just wanna see Mark holding the Wimbledon Trophy atleast once.

Despite the fact that I think it will be alot of fun, I really can't imagine what he is thinking. Surely everything he tried to get away from he is now going to create all over again. Is he still the big media catch that he always was? Or do you think this time it won't be so bad and will just be a bit of fun. Surely he isn't seriously thinking he will meet someone genuine on this show?

Oh and just incase Mark does read this website - save yourself the bother Mark, I'm 26, single I don't smoke and I like dogs.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

who knows... this is so left-field i have no idea what mark was thinking when he auditioned. By the interview he's given, he sounds very lonely... maybe he really is hoping to met someone.. or just searching for a confidence boost and a bit of fun??

It's a very risky thing to do, but at least it's getting pretty good raps and interest in the US. I think he's done quite well to get a deal on one of NBC's prime spots and new series. Mark has always talked about getting into acting, so you would assume this opportunity will at least open some doors or maybe create other opportunities for him.

nebita i totally understand what you are saying... but unfortunately its a done deal, Mark is filming this tv show right now, and i'm just trying to be positive about the whole thing. It is disappointing we are not hearing more about marks fitness and tennis. The reality show was the last thing any of us were expecting. But realistically mark's chances to be a force on the tour are pretty slim. He will have to be in unbelievable fitness and play many matches to gain the confidence needed. Hearing he will play against seniors and has been practicing against a british rockstar Gavin Rossdale doesn't exactly make sense. But who knows?? Its mark we are talking about - the most unpredicatable person on the planet!

At least soon we will see mark back on court in Athens.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

My thoughts on this is more that Mark is thinking forward to a tv career as he has always expressed an interest in acting.

What a great opportunity for Mark to get that experience and raise his profile. I can just imagine Mark on Bold and the Beautifil as a hunky but modest male model, stealing the hearts of the leading ladies emoticon

Seriously, it could be that Mark has realised he needs to take a step towards something that he wants in his life (acting on tv) and that his body is not co-operating with full-on professional playing on the tour.

He has had 5 months recovering from this last injury and he can't afford that to happen anymore.

Other players are younger, stronger and match-fit. Mark is going on 31, perhaps it's time to try other things in life and not suffer so much with his body as he has for the past few years.

I want to see Mark playing tennis again too, he excites me more than any other player but I don't want him to suffer anymore from serious injuries. I hate to say it but it could be time for the less gruelling seniors tour next year and to launch himself in a new tv career.

Whatever Mark wants to do, wherever his path is leading too........ I'll support him always because he is an honest, sincere and sweet person that has suffered too much physically as a professional player and has suffered too much as an easy target from the Aussie press over the years.

He has always deserved better and I hope that the future holds much happiness and success for Mark +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

posticon Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

You are rite Val, even i dont want him to suffer anymore but i still dream of him winning Wimbledon atleast once. He was almost there in 2003 but then didnt make it, if i recall the day when he won semi final match i still remember that was the happiest day in my life but then it followed with a nightmare on the final day. I know i will still care for him and will like him always even if he doesnt play tennis, but i really love those days when i watch his match i wont even talk to anyone else just glued on TV and fully tensed.

I guess im being little selfish on my thinking, obviously he needs to move on in his life and he can choose what he wants, probably its because of the acting career he mite have chosen this. I hope this helps him in some or the other way.

But i still cant take part in this so sad emoticon emoticon , is anybody from Scudcentral taking part in this show. If im not there also i wish one of us should be part of this show so that we'll get to know more about Mark.

Anyway lets hope for the best for Mark in his carreer whether it is tennis or some other field.
Whatever you do Mark, you are still the best among everyone else......
Will care and love you always........ emoticon

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

Good comments, I didn't really think of it like that. We have heard him being so positive about his tennis it just didn't really cross my mind that he would let anything get in the way of a strong attempt to get back on the main tour. Maybe this will still happen and if he doesn't succeed as he hopes on the ATP tour again he will then move onto the senior tour and TV. I personally cannot imagine him as an actor, but certainly hope he is successful if he choses to do this and the TV show will certainly boast his popularity in this field. I don't expect for a second that the Love Match show will be broadcast in the UK and to be honest, I am attracted to him but I am a far bigger fan of his tennis and not a fan of reality TV so certainly would not be watching it, but will be interested to hear how he gets on. I just hope that this is being done for fun and not an act of desperation due to being lonely, which I agree is how he is coming across. How on earth can a guy with a lovely personality and stunning looks as Mark be single goes beyond me. His true friends should be helping him out and introducing him to single women that they know, who will be genuinely interested in him and not his career.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV

Mark is currently filming in Melbourne with the final two competitors in this new reality show. Poor Mark looked very nervous yesterday with all of the cameras in his face on their fantasy picnic and I don't blame him. His young date however was cute and fun and they looked good together. I didn't see any real chemistry between them however except for one quick peck and I wonder, in reality, how he would really get to know these women without any real private time.

They have their final day of shooting today and then head back to the states.

Thanks for the update Ember and welcome to the forum emoticon

I hope Mark is having fun with this. I'm sure it was nice for him to come home and catch up with his mum too.

I wonder if the cameras were there throughout the entire picnic. That would be tough!

I can see an exclusive New Idea or Woman's Day feature coming up soon emoticon
