Re: Mark's Love Match on TV
Hello, Val you couldn't have siad that better, it is great too see Mark being offered new career options, what better timing seeing as he's in the twilight of his career, as you've stated I do believe that Mark will give his full 100% effort to making it to the top of the tennis world, however i don't meen to sound rude and arrogant but I would like to see the scudders out there just realise that the man we all love in one way or another is 30 years old and he has kept on going long after 99% of players would have given up by now, but a body can only take so much, what I'm trying to say is that if he sucumbs to another serious injury than I think that we all should just realise that he gave it everything but his body would'nt listen to him, and not feel too let down when he has too finally say his last goodbye, I'm sure plenty of you out there will agree with me, i would just like to see everyone prepared for that day, so we can all embrace both what he's achieved both with his tennis and willigness to have stayed in the game for as long as he has.
Anyway on a lighter note, I just read where Peter Luczak, is going to skip the grasscourt season, I was thinking that maybe seeing as Hewitt is a direct starter and Guccione is currently ranked high enough to gain direct entry into Wimbledon that maybe there is a chance that Mark may accept the recipricol Wildcard from TA provided hes fit enough.
Lucus.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV
well said lucus.
I would love to see Mark play wimbledon, i wish he was ready.. you never know.. I think it was a little strange to say Mark cant play because he is "only" 95% fit. I dunno.. i would've thought the solid 3 weeks off to focus on his health would be enough time to get that 5% fitness??
I dont think Australia have a deal with LTA officials. I know we have one with the french open... but last year there wasn't one - Mark was offered a WC at the last mintue after doing well at queens.
But fingers crossed we see him at Newport, it will be very exciting but of course if things dont work out with his health I am sure after all thats happened over the past few years his fans will understand. Not many ppl expected him to play on after his last knee operation, so i don't think the expectation is very high on Mark's return.

Mark is currently filming in Melbourne with the final two competitors in this new reality show. Poor Mark looked very nervous yesterday with all of the cameras in his face on their fantasy picnic and I don't blame him. His young date however was cute and fun and they looked good together. I didn't see any real chemistry between them however except for one quick peck and I wonder, in reality, how he would really get to know these women without any real private time.
They have their final day of shooting today and then head back to the states.
omg they were filming in public??!! In front of everybody? You would think things would be under cover to protect the secrecy of the final 2 women... kinda anti-climatic if everybody knows who he ends up with before the show even airs!
wow, thanks Ember! Welcome to the forum!
... i wonder if this is like the bachelor when they meet eachothers parents and friends? I thought it was strange if Mark came to melbourne just by himself..it didnt make sense, but now knowing the final 2 women are here it all fits.

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV
Thanks for the warm welcome folks
Mark and his date were only there for about an hour and a half and were filmed the entire time - from getting out of the car, being greeted, whilst walking around and checking out the animals, during the picnic and then departing. Mark was most comfortable with the dingos and when he leant down next to the fence, one actually licked his cheek!
He only really had a few minutes when the cameras were off to come inside and say hello. I have a photo of him with a little girl who was there - I'll check with her parents to see if they mind it being posted.
I'll give you a sneek preview of their dusk date however I'll keep the picture small to hide who he was there with
In regards to his other date she had met his parents the day before and then dined with him at the Aquarium. Last night he was heading out to a romantic dinner (I think at the Crown) with the girl from the picnic.
Once the show starts I might pop up a couple more pics for you

Re: Mark's Love Match on TV
Hello, I was just watching Jay Leno and I thought that since Mark's TV Show is on NBC there may be a chance that he will go onto the NBC talk shows (Jay Leno, Conan O' Brien e.t.c.), never would I have thought he would ever be on a show like that, fingers crossed that thought will come true.

Lucus.
I have to agree with you Lucus. This is why Mark is our Lionheart - he just keeps fighting to come back after so many serious injuries and often said as career-ending.
Mark's career has been massively hindered by injuries but I'm still very proud of what he has achieved. My greatest memories are of 2003 - seeing Mark at the Australian Open, Semi-Final Davis Cup and that awesome Davis cup Final.. then followed by 2004 Australian Open. I've been very lucky to experience that terrific year.
Not sure Mark should accept a late WC to WImbledon if he hasn't had any matchplay. It would absolutely be devestating if he went out in the first round. That would worry me.
Val
