SHE'S the "kitten" who got the cream - and Tennessee cheerleader Amanda Salinas is confident Aussie playboy Mark Philippoussis will serve her up a serious relationship.
The sports stud swapped tennis for serial dating this year when he signed up to become the prize in US reality series Age of Love.
While 12 women - half of them younger "kittens", half the more mature "cougars'' - spent several weeks clawing for the Scud's affections, it was 26-year-old Salinas who aced the game in the finale on Channel 7 last night.
Despite his reputation, she sees the Poo as a "super sensitive guy with a huge heart''.
Clearly, she hasn't met his ex, Delta Goodrem, but Salinas was certainly prepped for questions regarding her new man's past when speaking to Confidential yesterday.
"I didn't know anything about Mark when we met, but I just couldn't imagine him being that kind of person. I asked him about it and he set me straight,'' Salinas said.
"He had nothing but nice things to say about Delta and completely denies ever dating Paris Hilton, which I was very glad about.''
Well, that's sorted then.
The couple weren't permitted to see each other until the series finale had aired, but with that out of the way they're off tomorrow for a four-day love-in in San Diego.
"We speak to each other all day long and I just can't wait to see him again - I'm very happy being with him,'' Salinas gushed.
But can she call game, set, match, get the ring on the finger and win the Scud's heart for life as his trouble and strife?
"Oh goodness, I'm not sure he's ready for marriage yet, we're just taking it as it comes.''
Thought so.
I hope that all will be good for Mark and Amanda. It would be great to see Mark happy!
Typical of Australian media, particuraly the Herald Sun banner to throw in sarcastic quips throughout an article. Why is our media so juvenile?

I'm really in love, says Amanda
Melbourne Confidential
August 31, 2007 01:00am
FAST-serving playboy Mark Philippoussis has done the unthinkable - scored a love-match on the Age of Love show.
Three months after the US reality dating series wrapped up, Confidential can reveal Scud and the winning beauty are still very much an item.
Amanda Salinas, a 25-year-old business assistant from Tennessee, told Confidential yesterday life with the 30-year-old Poo was better than ever.
"For whatever reason, I always felt comfortable with him, but now (the cameras aren't rolling) it's so much more comfortable," she said.
"I'm actually flying out (to San Diego) to see him tomorrow."
In an enthusiastic gush, Salinas said she had fallen for Philippoussis from their first meeting on set.
"Initially I was attracted to him physically but then saw the way he was with everyone," she said.
"He just has this huge heart.
"He was so sweet and caring and the way he talked about his family was so nice."
In the series, a group of women in their 40s vied with a bevy of beauties in their 20s to win Philippoussis's charms.
The finale aired in Australia last night and in the US this month.
Philippoussis opted for Salinas, an avid dancer, artist and reader who knows next-to-nothing about sport over her 40-something sports nut counterpart, Jenny Braff, in the final.
The girl-next-door Salinas follows a string of high-profile beauties swinging on the arm of the eligible tennis bachelor.
The Williamstown boy has dated Delta Goodrem, been linked to Paris Hilton and Tara Reid, and been engaged to 18-year-old model heiress Alexis Barbara.
But Salinas defended her new beau's playboy reputation, saying Philippoussis was just misunderstood.
"I didn't follow any sports so I didn't know who he was until I got home from the show and found out a bit of stuff," she said.
"But if I hear something about someone, I'm the sort of person who will go to the source.
"So I asked him, 'Hey, baby, did you date this person or do this?' And he said, it wasn't true.
"And I believe him."
For the final episode of the show, Salinas visited Melbourne in May to meet Philippoussis' mother and sister and to see his hometown.
"I cannot wait to go back. I have bragged about that place ever since getting home," she raved.
"There are no plans yet, but I know he always goes home to visit his family for the holidays, so we'll see."
If the dismal precedent set by dating shows is anything to go by, Salinas and Philippoussis have an uphill battle ahead of them.
But at least Salinas gets the nod of approval from Mama Philippoussis.
"Everybody was so nice to me," Salinas said of Philippoussis's family and friends.
"His mum pulled me aside because I am extremely shy, and she said, 'I can see you're shy, I understand, you're like me'."

Re: SPOILER - Kitten's purring for Poo
val would expect anything less?
hopefully amanda will learn pretty quickly how to dismiss the aussie press and just ignore them. No matter what she says or Mark for the matter, the media will be horrible and put a spin on it... probably best if they didnt say anything at all.
but i do hope it works out well, they both deserve some happiness.

Re: SPOILER - Aussie papers - Interview with the lucky lady that Mark picked!
funny fact this article was the no.1 most popular news story all day on news.com.au - which covers the dailytelegraph, herald-sun, courier, adelaide and perth online papers!
I thought this was so bizarre, especially considering all the media focus on Andrew Johns...

Re: SPOILER - Aussie papers - Interview with the lucky lady that Mark picked!
Yep, the article was riddled with sarcasm, but overall, I think the media were no where near as scathing as I thought they would be. When the news broke that Mark was doing the show, the media was harsh. But after it started screening in Australia, I believe alot of people saw a very different side of Mark. He came across as very polite and quite the gentleman.
As far as the Delta issue goes (which the media keeps flogging to death) she stated in her Enough Rope interview with Denton early in the week that the relationship was very brief and they rarely saw each other; it was more of a relationship speculated about by the media. She did not utter a bad word about him. Kudos to both of them for keeping their dignity while the media has dragged them through the mud.
