Dancing with the Stars?
My Mum is an avid ballroom dancer, and knows a couple of the people involved with Dancing with the Stars personally.
She has been told that Mark is to be a contestant on the show? I thought it unlikely given his current circumstances, but Mum seems quite certain.
Has anyone heard anything about this? I wonder if it could be true.

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
hahaha ... can you try and get your mum to find out a few more details Cheryl?
There are several things very wrong with this..
1. the knee surgery
2. Mark said he wasn't interested in doing another tv show
3. He HATES wearing tight clothes.. especially tight pants
lol, i can't stop laughing... just the thought is rather hilarious...

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
For some reason when he got hurt I just has a strong hunch that he would go onto dancing with the stars.
In regards too Marks knee, I'm not sure as too when this show starts. However I think if he can get out of the wheelchair for at least a fornight before shooting the show, then I think his Knee should be right, theres no comparison between tennis and dancing.
I'm not going too go into the tight pants thing.
A plus too all of this could be that Mark could get some good exposure and seeing as its not a dating show, I can't see any bad articles coming his way for participating in this show. In the last few shows the athletic and good looking guys are phenomenally popular, Surely that couldn't hurt Marks future career prospects .

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
well alicia molik and todd woodbridge did it so....
The positive would be it would help his fitness, from what i've heard it's a rather demanding show... lol, i'm just having trouble picturing Mark in sequence.
Although he did seem to enjoy himself when he did the samba classes on AOL... but his partner will have to be very patient... oh my, he would be a pretty funny character and Lucus if this bizarre news turns out to be true i think the public's perception of Mark would change a lot. Just seeing him out of his comfort zone and not taking himself seriously would hopefully lift his popularity.

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
I think it would be great for Mark for a few reasons.
Firstly, they practice daily between 8 and 10 hours, and it could be great rehabilitation for his knee, and certainly a great way to keep fit and limber.
Secondly, many people who may not be interested in Tennis would get to know Mark so it would be great for him publicly. I'd imagine Mark would get many many votes.
Thirdly, Dancing with the stars is held in very high regard, totally unlike his other TV show. I don't think they can even be compared.
I know Mum knew well before the general public that Patti Newton was going on the show. So, hopefully she is correct this time as well.

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
If this fits in with Mark's schedule and the doctors give Mark the go ahead (and assuming this turns out to be true), I think this would be a great thing for Mark and his profile. What a great way to get those legs stronger than ever
I hope all went well for Mark today with his surgery and his recovery is not as painful and difficult as it was in 2001 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
Well I've looked and the last 2 years the 1st series starts on February 20/21 - finishes early April. Don't they start rehearsing a few weeks before the show goes live? If that's the case he'd have to be substantially recovered by February.
This thread is all speculation... but last year Mark was walking quite freely about 2 weeks after the operation. It would be nice to know how things went and the degree of rehab is needed. I thought it was odd to read he'll be playing the celebrity Aussie Millions poker challenge this Friday.
lol, I didn't think he'd be that mobile so soon... we'll have to wait and see!

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
This is in todays papers... It's still all speculation at this stage.
Philippoussis gives Dancing With The Stars a chance
Herald Sun

MARK Philippoussis's road to recovery from knee surgery could follow an unusual route - as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars.
Philippoussis, 31, was yesterday due to undergo a fifth knee operation after injuring his right leg during the Australian Open wildcard play-off.
However tennis and entertainment circles are buzzing with speculation Philippoussis is poised to extend his TV career by appearing on the hit show.
The Wimbledon and US Open finalist last year was the central figure in American dating reality show The Age Of Love.
If invited to join Dancing With The Stars, the former world No. 8 would become the third Australian tennis player to feature on the program.
Alicia Molik and Todd Woodbridge have been on the show.
Woodbridge said it left him fitter than he had been in years, with relentless practice leading to significant weight loss.
Scud might yet have a role at next week's Australian Open.
The dual Davis Cup winner last season appeared as a guest commentator and would be free to again contribute in the early stages of what is expected to be a long rehabilitation.
Philippoussis has told friends he wants to play tennis at the highest level again.
Sydney surgeon Merv Cross and his Miami colleague Harlan Selsenick were to be involved in Philippoussis's latest surgery.
Philippoussis has not played on the regular tennis tour since 2006 because of recurring knee injuries.

Re: Dancing with the Stars?
I really think that Leo gets all his information from this message board....
there's no quotes or any sort of *real* information in this article - just the same level of speculation as this thread...
I'm not sure how i feel about this idea - im pretty anti- reality tv. i never even watched age of love - thought it was kinda stupid. also i dont want him to injure himself even more, let alone the way the media behave about something of this nature...
