Battle Philippoussis On Wii At Australian Open


Nintendo has announced it will be the official gaming console supplier at the 2008 Australian Open. Attendees will be able to play Wii in between matches with a chance to play Wii against tennis champ Mark Philippoussis.

Attendees at the Australian Open will be able to test their tennis skills in the Wii Championships in their downtime. The winner of the Wii Championships will then win tickets to the men's final and get a chance to battle it out on the big screen (on Wii) with The Poo on 27 January.

"We know Mark Philippoussis is a fan of Wii, and there will be a few Wii fans lining up to take him on", said Nintendo Australia Managing Director, Rose Lappin.

The Australian Open will run 14 – 27 January. The Wii Championships will be held at the Nintendo stand located in the Fan Fest area, outside Vodafone Arena.

Philippoussis will also appear at the Nintendo stand, Tuesday 15 January 11:00am.



For those at the Australian Open next week, here is your chance to see Mark! I hope the surgery has gone well +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

hahaha i can't believe i read that whole article twice before it sunk in... I AM GOING TO THE OPEN! I wasn't planning going that morning... but this is too good to be true!

will do my best to get some photos... i was excited about going, now i am ecstatic i might get to see Mark!

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!

Went to qualifying again today (ITS BLOODY HOT!!!) and met MAGNUS again emoticon emoticon emoticon (he remembers me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) He's out here to coach Johansson and he couldn't deal with the heat so he had to take his top off (*droooooooool*)

and then i get back to my hotel and read this!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Its taken 7 Australian opens and neither of them are actually playing, but FINALLY my two guys are at the same tournament! I dont believe it!

This *almost* makes up for Johansson (the ONLY swede in the main draw...) having to play Bagdatis in the first round. Almost.

I hope my sunburn clears up by then - i got really badly burnt today. I'm choosing to blame Magnus for this, as the only time i stopped reapplying my cream was the 1 hr i watched him for emoticon

haha i got badly burnt over Christmas and hoping to lose the cozie tan lines in melbourne...

I will get in contact with you on monday to organise our plan of attack... remember to wear proper shoes that day in case some short sprinting in required... but then again we don't want to look like two red-faced, out of breathe, sweaty women when walking into the tent... hmmm this could be tricky! emoticon emoticon
