Ive stumbled across a short article that was in the melbourne papers... 2 interesting things has come out of it..

Marking time
LILLIAN

OUCH. It was painful to observe Mark Philippoussis hobbling on crutches after his recent knee surgery.

``Lill, I'm going to be on crutches for two months, so it's frustrating not to be playing tennis,'' Mark said.

``Instead, I'll be watching the tennis and popping over to Crown for the Aussie Millions poker championship.''

He told me that during the years spent on the tennis circuit, poker became his second game when his matches were rained out and many hours were spent in locker rooms, playing a hand or two.

As for his future, Mark told me that remains unclear.

``I have no idea what to do next. I am just focusing on getting healthy and strong, and protecting my knee,'' he said.

Mark, who last year starred in the short-lived reality show Age of Love, wouldn't say if he will be part of the next Dancing with the Stars TV series, but did confirm he intends to stay in Melbourne and won't be returning to his former base, Las Vegas.

lol, you would think Mark would be quick to deny the DWTS rumour if it weren't true... his silence makes me think this is a strong possibility! emoticon

I also like the news he'll be staying in Melbourne for an indefinite period of time.

It makes sense that Mark stays put here for awhile. It's still his home and his mum, sister and best mates are here to look after him. I wonder if San Diego is a realistic home base in the US as well.

I think the toughest part will be for Mark not to be tempted to go surfing for awhile. I doubt that is on the agenda while he is on crutches until end of Feb/early March.

There are two seasons of Dancing with the stars per year. If Mark is on crutches until end of Feb/early March, I'm not sure he would be able to participate in the first season, however, he could be in the 2nd series of the year.

I can't help feeling that Mark's knees will never be strong enough to get back on the professional tour where he plays day after day against young, fit kids so maybe abit of the seniors events will provide Mark his playing outlet and give him opportunities to explore other goals in his life. I really don't want to see Mark go through this again, ever!
