Mark playing now! come to the chat room
He lost.... so no chance of seeing him tomorrow
You may have asked this, but I have not seen Marks dad or his fiancee at Wimbledon - are they there? Is he married yet, as I have been out of touch on here for a while!?!?

Re: 2ND RD: MARK VS MIRNYI {{Mark lost 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3}}
This was a very disappointing match for mark. I think mark fell back into bad habits... he talked previously in his interview about wanting to win too much, and being too serious - well i think that happened last night. His body language from the first point was serious and his tree trunk legs were heavy. It probably does boil down to lack of matches, but it wouldve been nice to see mark have a little more fun on the court... interact with the crowd (who the majority wanted him to win). Who knows if he got the crowd riled up, Max might've made more errors and mark could've fed off the engery the crowd was giving him.
Overall mark's footwork was the major problem, he wasnt getting into postition and towards the end persisited with serve-volley even though he wasnt moving in quick enough. The main positive for me is the comfort knowing mark is trying to organise his schedule with Peter Mcnamara... mark needs a coach to help get him mentally prepared for matches - in my opinion mark didnt come out with the best attitude and was really struggling to get into the match and be positive.
Jay in regards to Nick and Alexis - from reports both were not present. It appears Nick is no longer playing an active coaching role with marks tennis. I dont think Mark and alexis are married... there has been no sighting of her for several weeks. Mark is not saying much as usual so i dont really know whats going on.
Mark said with a dead pan expression in his press conference he got the ring he wears on his wedding finger from a 20c toy machine... i think he was just stiring up the media, it doesnt look like a 20c ring to me

Re: 2ND RD: MARK VS MIRNYI {{Mark lost 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3}}
Yes, it was very disappointing but I was about half expecting it due to Mark's lack of match play the past year (maybe 2 years!) and I didnt think it would work out well having to come out the next day.
If Mark had been able to get that first set, I'm sure the result would have been different.
As the commentators said, Mark came into the tournament somewhat unprepared and underdone. He really hasn't done anything until the past few weeks. Commentators also said that Mark was clearly the better and more talented player and at times the old Mark did show himself but he needs more matches to get himself back into shape.
I hope Mark goes on to play lots of challengers and qualifiers for the hard court tournaments. I'm sure after a few weeks of that, he will see his ranking go up and up and up!
There's still a good chance for a strong finish to 2006 and get the fitness levels (mind and body) upto a level for a highly competitive 2007!
I hope that things work out with Macca, they make a good team and Mark needs someone special in his corner to get him back to his fully competitive level.
I was pleased to see he toughed out the third set as he was looking pretty worn out after the first 2 sets.
Val

It is very disappointing for Mark, but I feel that things will get better, I hope he keeps hope alive and works hard to achieve his ambitions.

Yes, we saw a lot of the old Mark but the self-doubt crept in too much.
I think he has improved tremendously, but there is still work to be done. His fitness levels were quite good actually, but so were Max's. I'm happy that he took that set off Max, it was a good one! I'm sure Macca will be good for him. See how it goes I gues........
In regards to Alexis a him being married. If Mark is Greek orthodox they wear the engagement ring on the left hand and once married they wear it on the right, so it would seem that he is still engaged.........yeah about the 20c ring, just a fob off I would say.....I don't think Mark would do that, even tho he would like to stir the media.

I was gutted to get home and see the score. Didn't get to see the match itself in the end as I had marching band rehearsal. But much as it's a disappointment it's also been a good couple of matches as it can't help but have raised Mark's confidence in his game and in his body.
So basically, I feel the positives are outweighing the negatives!

Unfortunately I only get Centre to Crt 3, so missed Mark's match y'day. Mirnyi is quite a gloomy so & so, so pity Mark had to lose to him.

I may be wrong, but I think Mark had that ring made many years ago and wears it from time to time.

Oh really.......ah huh!
Not that this is the case with our lovely Mark......but my best friend is Greek and she told me that the men often wear engagement rings, it's not the same ring they wedd with, but often something made more to their taste sometimes even a dress ring........so maybe he's wearing the one he made.........LOL
I could also be prattling on with no clue whatsover!!!! LOL
