Re: American Girl Dolls
No they dont, However they have thier own store in NY about 2 blocks from F.A.O. The American girl doll store in NY is 3 story's High. It also has a Themed resturant and live theator inside! This picture btw needs to be updates as ive added 3 dolls to this collection and will be getting another one soon.
I also started collecting Tonner dolls, wich they do sell at F.A.O. I got my first one on my trip to NY when I picked up Kaya. I got Hermoine Granger in her school uniform.

Re: American Girl Dolls
I have just recently stumbled accross the Australian Girl website here in Australia. At the moment they are still not actually available for purchase, although it says on their site that they are due to be released in November this year. They are quite lovely dolls and from what i can tell they are quite similar to American Girl . The main difference i can see is that the girls are all from the same era, which is now, and there are just 4 at the moment, including a girl of Chinese heritage named Jasmine. They have a really cute background story about them becoming friends, and heaps of clothes and accessories including a very "Aussie" pet wombat.International shipping is available too. Check out the website at

Re: American Girl Dolls
I will take a picture of my own AG collection later today and post it. ^__^
I wanted an AG for years - since the early 90s - and finally, when I was in Chicago two years ago, I had the finances to go to AG Place and buy one. I chose the one who I've always thought of as the most beautiful, Josefina.
Since then I have acquired 8 more. They are:
- The light skinned African American AGOT/JLY whose hair isn't textured, but comes in loose curls
- The blonde AGOT/JLY with brown eyes and freckles
- Marisol
- Nikki
- Kaya
- Elizbeth
- Addy
- Samantha
Samantha was an ebay buy. I don't like the way Mattel has altered her head mold, so I wanted a Pleasant Company one. I prefer the fuller face. I also got Marisol NRFB from ebay. Otherwise, it's hard to make sure she comes with her necklace. *sweatdrop*
I am a -sucker- for the Josefina face mold - it's lovely - and for the African American head mold. It just looks so kind and sweet.
My adopted mother now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We're both avid garage sale/flea market hounds, and there was a big one while I was there this past spring. To my surprise and joy I found a seller unloading an amazing number of Josefina's accessories for -cheap-; her daughter had outgrown them. I got an armful of stuff for $5 including Sombrita and the horno. I also have two single unmatched shoes from her outfits from this sale I would be happy to either sell or buy the mates for.
I've been intending to buy Kit sooner or later, because she is nearly exactly my grandma's age - Grandma would have been 7 when Kit was 9. Two other dolls that have been tempting me are two new AGOTs/JLYs: AG-F8908, who looks half Asian, half Hispanic, and altogether lovely; and AG-F8910, who has quite dark skin and that lovely African-American 'gentle' head mold again that I love so much.

Re: American Girl Dolls
Ohh I love Josefina, she's soooo pretty Also the Josefina headmold is the usual one it's Kaya that has a different face mold or so I think see this is a pic of Kaya
http://store.americangirl.com/agshop/static/kayadoll.jsf/title/Kaya/saleGroupId/0/uniqueId/5/nodeId/11/webMenuId/5/LeftMenu/TRUE as you can see she has a different face mold to Josefina
http://store.americangirl.com/agshop/static/josefinadoll.jsf/title/Josefina/saleGroupId/0/uniqueId/32/nodeId/11/webMenuId/5/LeftMenu/TRUE
As Josefina's one is the same as the others if you have a quick look at the others.

Re: American Girl Dolls
There are a few different head molds in use at American Girl.
- The Asian headmold, as modeled by Ivy Ling. This mold has gently almond eyes.
- The African headmold, as modeled by Addy. This mold has a wider nose, more generous lips, and looks very kind and gentle, which is why I love it so much.
- Kaya has her own unique closed-mouth head mold used for her and no other doll. AG decided to do this after, during their cultural research phase while designing Kaya, it was discovered that it's considered bad manners to smile with teeth showing in the Native American nation she belongs to.
- Josefina was the first to have the head mold she has, and it proved to be so popular that they began to issue other dolls with it. The doll of the year Marisol and Felicity's friend Elizabeth both have it, for example - but not all dolls do. Compare the shape of Elizabeth's face with that of Felicity and you will see the difference.
- I don't think there's a name for the most common head mold, the one used by Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha, Molly, etc.
- When Pleasant Company owned AG, this last headmold had significantly fuller cheeks. Post-Mattel, it has been streamlined and is, imo, not as attractive a mold.
I intend to take pictures of my AG collection today anyway, so it won't be any extra fuss for me to include a couple side by side shots that make the differences maybe a bit more obvious. ^___^

Re: American Girl Dolls
As promised, here is a picture of my girls! Not pictured: clothing, accessories, and it seems Licorice and Sombrita got mostly cut out of the picture. Oops.
In the back row: that's Nikki in the light blue winter jammies with the matching light blue santa hat; Pleasant Co. Samantha; Marisol, dressed in one of Nikki's outfits; Kaya, who looks amazing in her hula attire; and Josefina.
In the front row: Elizabeth; an American Girl of Today/Just Like You doll who didn't come with a name; Addy; another unnamed AGOT/JLY doll. Coconut is wearing a hat that's part of a store exclusive outfit he got at the AG store in Chicago.
This next picture is to show the difference between the Josefina face mold and the standard line face mold. (Edit: Picture has been changed, as the first one showed poor Josefina with messy hair - not very flattering to her!)
