Re: What type of Sylvanians/Critters would you like to see?
The village desperately needs a butcher or smallgoods/deli style shop. We cannot expect our critters to remain healthy and happy forever on a diet of cakes, pastries and bread. Perhaps an alternate stall for the market would do it. With eggs, sausage, bacon, ham and chickens. It would nicely compliment the vege cart.

As they're all animals I expect they're vegetarian?
Platypusses sound great! I prefer the wildlife animals to the farm ones and I agree the penguins stand out oddly!
All this talk of a castle or palace - is there a Sylvanian King and Queen?

Re: What type of Sylvanians/Critters would you like to see?
No, they are not all vegetarians. There are dogs, cats, foxes, bears, otters, raccoons, owls, etc., and all of those are carnivores or omnivores.
I'm not so hot on the idea of a butcher shop, but a delicatessen/deli with meats and cheeses would be really cute, with big hanging salamis and huge wheels of cheese. . .
Also, there isn't king and queen figures, but they did come out with a couple prince/princess sets in Japan. I think one was supposed to be an actual prince and princess, the other was a costume/dress-up set.

They have already made a Tanuki family, that was one of the first families released in Japan. See them here:

How about Meercats? That would be cute! And a lion king and queen with cub prince and princess.
I guess lots of them wouldn't be vegetarian, but in my head they still will be or I'll get worried about putting the mice and cats etc together :S

Re: What type of Sylvanians/Critters would you like to see?
Found this to be interesting!
Tanuki is the Japanese word for the Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonides viverrinus). They have been part of Japanese folklore since ancient times. The legendary Tanuki is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absent-minded.
Tanuki is often mistakenly translated as raccoon or badger.
