Re: Tough on Redditch
Correct Clive . But didn't Peter McParland cripple the United keeper Woods & they had to play with 10 men for most of the game,no subs in them days. Gosh what am I doing defending Man.Und I dislike them more than Villa. At least Aston Villa come from Birmingham & not from the rainy city in Lancashire where most of its inhabitants are under the impression that theirs is the second city. But saying that most of United fans live anywhere but Manchester.

Re: Tough on Redditch
That disappointing result back in 1957 is the first FA Cup Final I can actually remember. The more important one the previous year between the proper sides from the second and third cities passed without me knowing about it as I was only 5 then. I can remember some of the banter between between my Dad and a shopkeeper round in Shaftsmoor Lane. I think this might have been the year Baggies, Blues and v*lla all made the semi-finals.
Its always tricky when v*lla play manure as to who to support but like Keith I lean towards v*lla as I think they have done less damage to the people's game on the whole.
Was it the 1958 final immediately after Munich when Nat Lofthouse shoulder-charged Harry Gregg into the net for one of the goals? I can remember the photos in an album I had for Xmas. Those were the days when goalkeepers were expected to take the odd knock without the refs blowing up and turning them into wimps. Can you imagine what Slurred Alex Ferguson would have to say about such a goal against Manure nowadays.
